Looks real to me. If it were staged, you wouldn't have the old guy standing that near.

Is this one fake?

or this one?

I'm not sold on it being real. The camera guy does too good of a job tracking it falling. The other vids have them panning out to grab the whole scene once it becomes apparent something is going wrong, not staying zoomed in and tracking it hitting the car.

Unless it's catastrophic negligence, there shouldn't of been an old guy anywhere near that crane unless you knew exactly where it's going to fall. Or let someones little shit ass dog bark at you and be under the load either.

Although someone died in a freak crane accident when they built the Schottenstein center near where I live, just zooming down the road at the worst possible time when the crane fell over. So who knows.

Props to making the title of the thread "Hilarious Crane Accident". I couldn't resist 8)

Both those are real. The first one is during the construction of the Milwaukee Brewers stadium and I believe a few people lost their lives.

first one is fake. Any normal person would run away from a large falling object. The construction worker, the old man and the cameraman didn't even take a step back. Also, why would the operator run away? It's not his fault if the load wasn't secured, it's always someone else's job to do that for him.

it's not a staged drop. it's fake. all of that was added in post.
the debris "blowing in the wind" was made with something like Particular and the shot was tracked with something like PFhoe. the shadows are close, but not quite right.

Staged. Why would anyone use an expensive crane to lift small boxes of phones and small rolls of cable to a roof? It's like a collection of junk they threw on a pallet.

i do that for a living, when something goes wrong, it comes down to the operator.
