Tripoli, Libya.
Off to Tripoli for a few weeks starting tomorrow. It's business but I hope to visit local BMW dealership Oasis Motors for fun. I found an areal photo online that looks like a big modern Bimmer dealership anywhere. Maybe I can make friends and take a few pictures for bimmerpost.com. Hopefully my Obama cotton tee will get my by.
If any Libyan bloggers are online, I'd really like to chat. Meahwhile, the lemon leather in my Alpine white 135i will be dyed black. Something else to post pictures of. I already had the seat side airbag and seat back control replaced with black because the upholstery guy didn't think dye would stick to the plastic bits. |

Intermediate shot.
Here are the seats when I got the car in April 2009, also November 2009 with new black airbags and seat back controller. I'm already down $1,500 for parts and labor.

Back to PDX.
Tripoli is a mess but there are signs of change and oil wealth everywhere. More nice cars than I imagined, anyway - 535i's, X6's, S6's, and Volkswagon Phaetons, all white.
I hoped to see a Jamarhiriya Rocket but didn't have any down time to look. Maybe next trip. My treat for pulling this off was to have the lemon leather in my Alpine White 135i dyed black while I was gone, but it rained non-stop the whole time so the shop wants a few more days to let it dry. Fine, whatever it takes. I'll start a thread with before and after pictures and tell you about the experience when it's done. |

Why are you changing the color?

It comes down to my arbitrary preferences.
I like Lemon but it's a super light, warm color that doesn't match the cool Alpine White or (to me) contrast enough. Plus I like the black and white thing. I have shadowline trim and tinted windows. |
