OK, he doubled his money, but it's not like it was millions of dollars. He probably had to pay a shitload of taxes on it, so he probably ended up taking home about $70k or $80k in profit. How is $80k worth risking your life savings of $136k? It's not that much money, relatively speaking.
If all he needed was an extra $80k to start his business, there sure are a lot more reliable ways to raise that money without putting $136k down on a roulette table.
