I was so glad to see BJ Penn's win by TKO finally wiped that stupid snarl off Diego Sanchez's face...and yes, he did literally kick his brains out!
![]() ![]() Frank Mir is an amazing legend...ain't no other heavyweight like him who can make a guy go to sleep in 1:12...nighty-night, Kongo...guess you "Cheick-ed" out sooner than you expected! That was the rockin' submission of the year!!! ![]() John Fitch and Mike Pierce, two very good fighters in what I thought was a good match, with the win by unanimous decision going to Fitch. ![]() Kenny Florian...wow. Just goes to show that technical skills trump the energizer bunny...at least when it's Florian against Clay Guida! ![]() Paul Buentello, as out-of-shape as he looks, got ROBBED in his loss by majority decision against Stefan Struve. What judges missed Struve's forehead running into Buentello's fist, then dropping like a sack of soggy potatoes??? Hellooooo??? That's one replay I would favorite on YouTube when it shows up! ![]() |

The first UFC fight I miss in like 2 years happens to be one of the best. I keep reading about bj's head kick, and mir's guillotine chokeout...damnit I missed a good one.

i just watched the replay of the title fight. Everyone kept saying it was an amazing fight; it was very unremarkable imho. The only thing awesome about it was when BJ dropped sanchez in the first, and when he split diego's head open with that kick. It wasn't even a challenge for BJ, he dominated sanchez! That cut was insane, it had to be at least 3" long lol.

Good to see some UFC fans here!
![]() Yeah, the title fight wasn't "amazing" except for BJ's kick, it was mostly the chihuahua humpin' BJ's leg other than that. I just loved that Sanchez got put in his place big time...he's so easy to hate, that CAMF (and that cut was the worst I've seen in a long time!) The Mir/Kongo fight was the amazing one for me...all 72 seconds of it! ![]() Like I said, if you get to see a replay of Buentello dropping Struve like a sack of potatoes...that's one you'll want to replay! If you like blood, check out the Florian/Guida fight. ![]() |

i thought it was a good night of fights, Buentello punching Struve as he threw the knee was pretty epic, specially watching the replay of how he had to aim way up, but i think the fight overall was pretty close, you cant ever leave it up to the judges, just ask shogun

Damn, I'm pissed I missed the first couple of fights. I got to the bar just before the Lesnar fight started and hadn't even gotten a beer before he knocked out Kongo.
That cut on Diego's head was just disturbing. That dude will never be able to fight again without that forehead bursting wide open. ANd yes, I too was baffled why he kept trying to take down Penn with a single, you gotta be a lot stronger than that to overcome his balance. |
