Speculations on 135i, Z4, E9X and M6
Well I speculated about what BMW could do, I know it is not true but I just tried to find some logic. BMW has two 3.0l L6 turbo engines ,the N54 and N55. At 306 hp the N55 is better as it is more efficient, but the N54 can get more power. It seems BMW now uses the N55 instead if the N54, which could become the S54 or S55, a 3.0l L6 Twin-Turbo engine in the next M3. So we would find the N55 in all BMW 135i, 335i LCI, 535i, Z4 sDrive35i. In this way there would have been no N54 at all. But BMW came out recently with the Z4 sDrive35is (they could call it Z4 sDrive40i), that is able to keep up with the TT-RS yet without beeing an M-Car. So the question is:
Is the Z4 sDrive35is instead of the Z4 M? Let's go to the 135i. If the N55 replaces the N54, so the 135i, which will be sold longer then the 1 Series Hatch as it will be replaced by the next 1 Series F20 which will no more have any L6 but only L4, what engine will have the announced M-Car based on the actual 1 Series Coupé? Will it just be a 135is with the same engine as the Z4 sDrive35is? Or will it be a 135i Tii with 360 hp? Or will it yet be a real M1 with an M version of N54 and have 400 hp? If yes, how to justify the next M3 F30 with 3.0l L6 TT is better than M1? So the question is: 135is, 135i Tii or M1? Then, if the Z4 will have the N55 (Z4 sDrive35i) and the N54 (Z4 sDrive35is), as there is no point of having to times the same N54 with one time 306 hp, 340 hp and yet 326 hp from BMW Performance, will the 335i also have a 306 hp N55 (335i) and 340 hp N54 (335is)? And what about a 335xis, it would be a real rival to the Audi S4/S5. Unfortunaltely it seems quite impossible for the actual generations to have sport xDrive models, as you can not get a 335xi with sport suspension an 19" rims. So questio: Will there be a 335si with the 340 hp N54 engine? If there will be a 335si with 340 hp, than the M3 has a problem. It must just gt an upgrade, yet it will never get the 4.4l V8 from the GTS as it was exclusively made for it. The most logical thing would be for the M3 to get from 420 hp (105 hp/l) to 440 hp (110 hp/l). No it is not nearly like the M3 GTS, as it has at least 462 hp, and I would bet it has 484 hp. Why would it be to costly for the M3 to get 440 hp? The 335i was tested/developped with about 450 hp. The M3 could also be tested with about 460 hp, than be detuned to 420 hp. Even if the M3 does not have to be the fastest car to be the best drivers car and in any way will be faster around the track than any other RS5, C63 AMG and IS-F, it would be good for it to have an upgrade. So, M3 still to get 440 hp (110 hp/l)? In this way the M3 GT4 will also get 440 hp, just as the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and the Maserati GranTurismo S GT4. The M3 GT2 and Z4 GT3 will not be affected by this change as they have P65 engine. If there will be a 335is, and in this way the M3 will have to get 440 hp, the Z4 M may still come. Now we know the M3 V8 goes under the hood. Remember the last Z4 M, it got the M3 E46 L6, instead of the M3 E92 V8, but there was already the M5 E60 V10. The same was for the Z3. The S65 is not so old, the 4.2l TSI V8 in the RS4 and R8 V8 will yet come out in the RS5. Will there than still be a Z4 M and with S65 4.0l V8 engine? It sounds more logic than to get another upgraded 3.0l L6 TT N54 or S54 engine. About the 3 Series E90, Will there be a limited production 320si LCI version wtih 2.0l L4 177 hp? There was a limited pre-facelift 320si version before. Why not now as the E90 comes to its end? And now the last thing, Any 10 units limited M6 CSL production? The M6 is not really a track car as the M3, even though there is an Alpina B6 S GT3, but an M6 is not unrealistic. There was only one M5 CSL for the M5 anniversary. For the M6 CSL, there is everything that is needed, and the most important, the 5.5l V10 with about 600 hp. If the M5 CSL made the Ring in 7:50, faster than RS6 and CTS-V, and the M5 makes it in 8:13, the M6 that make the Ring in 8:06, in its CSL version it could do it in between 7:45 and 7:40. In this way it is quite possible for the highly modified M3 GTS to make the Ring between 7:35 and 7:30. Well, these were some of my thoughts. Only time will tell, but I like to thing of it in advance. |
