APR S4 vs stock S4

Just a bit of food for thought to those how either are considering the new S4 or already have one. APR has a tuning kit for it now and here is the fruits of their labour against a stock S4.

An APR tuned car is obviously going to be stronger but that looks like their all out house car.

Just an APR tune is one thing but a fully modified car is another.

Maybe it is just me but it did not sound good. Kind of squirrely sounding.

I wish they save all the sound effects and bullshit during the pull so that I can determine for myself if this was a fair race.

Sorry, that looks hideous. Unless 'redneck' was the look they were shooting for.

I am just referring to the original vid.

Stock vs APR
It reads like a simple tune can smoke a stock car. That car is track/race prepped.

Looks like a full interior to me with the added weight of a roll cage?

Not true -- completely stripped and parts sold on their site.
The new interior is just the basics and MUCH lighter materials. So, the cart is lighter, has extra XXX HP. THe details are not shared yet. So, this is an in-house car, the actual tuned APR vehicle will be somewhere in between...

I didn't expect the kind of posts this thread got?

It wasn't so much the fact that the APR car was so much faster but more the fact that they now have a tune program for the new S4 because I know quite a few S4 members on the forum shows interest in the MTM one available in Europe.

Stripped out or not we all know how quick the S4 can be with a little work. At least it should give those quick 335s a run for their money.

Again.

I was merely showing it was not a stock car with some decals and a simple ECU mod. I like the S4.

So completely stripped means the entire dash is intact, stock seats and door panels? Did you watch the video above?

It may have the dash in, but it's definitely got a lot of stuff stripped out. Like someone said already, APR sold all their OEM stuff on their website.

I looked on a vw forum and APR doesn't know when their tune will be available to the public. They said they created this race car and are racing it to help speed up the process of getting a tune out for this engine.

And a good point about the MTM claim of 97hp, they're quoting 97 crank hp over the manufacturers claim, not 97whp gain over a baseline dyno. We all know these cars are underrated.

I didn't get the point of this thread until I saw who the OP is.

WHy are you so stubborn -- completely or not, I talked to those guys at SPR as the project was going on and almost bought a few things they stripped out.
THe dash may be there, what is behind the cover is a question...
The seats are non-standard, and so much more...

dont think they claimed 97hp...they carefully worded their claim to be to 430hp, never implying how much the gain was..

For some reason I don't like the sound the car makes...maybe it's just the way the sound was recorded or something but meh I'll take the stock e92 exhaust over that any day. I'm guessing a tune will definately give 335i's a run for their money but I'm pretty sure when that happens, n54 tuners are going to step up their game as well

At the time I posted this I assumed the APR had their own tuning program availble to the public and as there appeared to be a few member here with S4s I though this might interest them as I know how much Americans are into tuning their cars, especially you guys in SoCal (guess everyone knows everyone else in this scene).

That was my point, though I don't get the point you were making, please explain?
