Alt E90 design and VW NCC a little too much alike?
Volkswagen's NCC concept looked a lot like a rejected design for the E90 coupe:

VW has already stolen some of the MB design w/ the CC
Honda accord totally has BMW's Hofmeister Kink

I'm not worried in the least bit.
Simply put, VW is NO BMW, no matter how much those fanbois wish they were. So copy as much as you can VW, you'll always fall short. IMHO it will make a great second car though. (Cheap, decent look, fresh warranty). I have a Jetta and you bet your a$$ it's the one getting ALL the snow/salt exposure. |

Ha, funny. It's not too bad looking. Although, the rejected design looks more like a 135 than a 335 to me. And Hyundai/Kia is the king of design stealing!

The head of design at VW came from BMW. I must say I like the look of VW's better than most BMW's, the CC is leading the way. VW's look like what BMW's would have if Chris Bangle had not come along. The jetta is a tremendous looking small car. I wish BMW had gone the way of VW, they just look better. Sorry...they got if right and the CC is the best looking sedan in a long, long time of any brand.

VW badge just does not evoke any kind of enthusiastic passion for me like a Roundel does.
So yes there's clearly an intangible dynamic that you "get" with a bimmer that VW will NEVER have. Remember, I own a VW. I trust that it will start every morning, but I prefer to drive the Bimmer....damn snow |

Not talking the quality of the two, I too have owned may VW's and when I was in that price range earlier in life that is what I owned. My TDi Beatle was a great car wish I still had it...But for looks and the styling of the cars, VW's look better. I wish the 3 looked like the CC, and by the way look inside a CC, BMW could learn allot.

They all copy each other. It reminds me of this review of the 2006 Civic: http://www.autofieldguide.com/driven/0506dri26.html
Great quote from the article: The latest generation of Civic goes back to a tried-and-true formula in an attempt to regain momentum. And that formula is simply this: Subtly copy BMW’s 3 Series in order to give buyers a vehicle that has overtones of the one they wish they could afford.
