It was only a matter of time. I haven't seen the movie, but I was a fan of the Ali G show and always wondered how they coaxed people into releasing material which makes them look incredibly stupid.

That is so stupid. I guess ppl would sue for anything. Its Borat man i have no idea why students would want to sue if there going to be on his movie.

they got to be in the movie, all they have to do is tell people that it was scripted and more often than not they will believe them. just watch the movie you can clearly see that most of this stuff was fake, funny, but fake.

"Our region is very poor, and everyone is trying hard to get out of this misery," he told the Daily Mail. "It is outrageous to exploit people's misfortune like this to laugh at them."

The residents of Glod are not the only ones threatening Baron Cohen with legal action. Two U.S. college students claim the filmmakers got them drunk and told them that the movie -- the No. 1 hit in the United States on its opening weekend -- would not be shown there.

Depends on what Court you are filing suit.

Off the top of my head it costs $5.00 to file with a U.S. District Court, and
$450.00 to file a Petition for Review before the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals.

I'm only in Federal Courts, however so that's a brief answer off the top of my head.

they just wanna a piece of his pie, that's all. i'm pretty sure the production crew expected all of this and had their lawyers prepare a very strong release that all participants signed before releasing the movie.

if the movie wasn't #1, there would be no lawsuits.

by the way, i just saw it last night and almost pissed myself. the scene where he fights his naked producer, priceless.

i didn't really like the movie and the fact that he was exploiting these people is pretty shady. there were some good laughs here and there but overall i just really wanted to kick his ass.

I agree... I'd seen so many borat clips by the time I saw the movie his routine was getting a bit old. There were some pretty funny parts though.

Also going into the kind of places in the world where people beg for bread on the side of a road and sleep in huts to shoot a reality style comedy movie is a little fucked up. I hope the people were at least somehow compensated, as any regular extras normally would be for appearing in a movie.
