FedEx truck backed into my car
Don't worry it wasnt my 335i.
Long story short: my daily driver (99 dodge avenger) was parked along the street and my neighbor comes over and tells me that he saw a Fed Ex truck back into it and drive away. The truck was delivering to the house across the street and when it left it hit my car then left. I wasn't that worried because the car is a piece but once i looked closely theres a 3-4" crack in the front bumper and a white scuff mark. I mean i hate to get a guy in trouble but thats pretty messed up he would do that and drive away. My question: has anybody had something like this happen before? I'm not sure if I want to get into a dispute with fedex/insurance but i have 2 witnesses plus fedex would have proof that guy delivered to a certain address. What would you guys do? |

If it bothers you, fix it. If it doesn't, f-it. With a big ass truck like that and those steel bumpers they use, he probably didn't even notice.

file a claim with your insurance and they'll find the driver. i don't know about your 'hood, but in mine, it's the same drivers every time. might be a good chance to get a new paint job if it's fading.

I think you should definately report it....I've driven big trucks in the Marine Corps and you definately do feel when you hit something, so I think he did feel it and just drove off thinking nobody else saw it.

If the guy is assholic enough to hit your car and drive away (how does he know if you loved that car or not), then he deserves to get in trouble. If he manned up and came to you and admit what he did and asked you not to report him thats a different story. But hit and run is real pussy and he should not only pay for it but whatever else fedex does in these situations.

I didn't notice backing into my E34 with my FJ and steel bumpers, let alone a Fedex truck.
It won't get the guy in trouble, just file a claim. |

Thanks for the feedback, I think i'm going to report it. I dont have pics now but i should definately take some for proof. It not that interesting though guys, just a faded out Avenger with a crack in the bumper...I'll probably take it to a body shop and the guys will laugh that I want to get the bumper fixed haha

Whenever I drive my dad's avalanche, I lose all the senses. I once backed into this SUV and didn't even know I was crushing its bumper and I was thinking to myself why this car wouldn't go backward anymore. I can only assume worse with fedex truck.

I used to drive for UPS. I supposedly hit a car's bumper once, although I was watching in the mirrors and was sure I hadn't hit it. Nonetheless, the owner noticed a small scratch and the Receiving guy said I was the only one who had driven near the car all day. (The asshole owner parked in the loading area daily. Drove me crazy.)
Point is, I definitely didn't feel any impact and I got no hassle at all from my boss when the car owner reported it. He just told me they'd cover it just to avoid the hassle.

I'd have to agree.
If you don't, you'll probably always reflect back on whether you should've reported it in the first place. I think you'd feel much more comfortable afterwards when you do. Quote:

It wasn't bad. I was working in Nürnberg, Germany and it was before the Euro, so what I got paid is a moot point now. I got paid fairly well, though. The best part is that you don't need any other workout other than your job. I lost 60lbs in the 10 months I worked there. Near constant motion as a driver. Especially in a city where there is no long drive.
