Yeah, they're really long and heartbreaking indeed. Some intense marketing right there.

I usually mute the TV and distract myself with my laptop... I'm totally against animal cruelty and get what they're trying to do, but I don't wanna see that stuff all the time =/

Its pretty sad that someone can do such a thing to a defenseless animal, our first dog was one that we rescued. She had such a hard time adjusting the first few months, she would always cry at night so I would sleep with her on the floor and comfort her. We had her for 5 years before she died last year.

I can't stand to watch those ads, talk about painful to see. And they're manipulative as hell.

Those ads are really terrible. People that are cruel to animals should have bad things done to them, not just fines and minimal jail time.

What's also terrible is what the HSUS does with donations. Most of their contribution receipts go towards what I think most would consider a very activist agenda. They have very little to do with animal shelters and instead spend their time targeting dairy and chicken producers, circus managers and hunters. They've very much shifted their purpose from animal welfare to animal rights.

Now the local humane society shelters are completely different; they are the ones actually on the front lines and do the most to help animals. If anyone should be donating money - it should be to them!

I hate those commercials!!! I love my dog and find it hard to believe that anyone could do that to their pet. But at the same time, I really dont think those commercials are the way to get their point across because the real animal lover just turn them off caues they are too painful to watch.

Local shelters aren't that much different unfortunately. I worked in one for a year before I was allowed "behind the curtain". A lot of it is not as advertised. And do not believe necessarily when a shelter says they are "no kill" that they actually are. A lot goes on behind the scenes there that is just wrong and animal abuse. For example tattooing the animal's serial number on them ( Usually about 6 1" digits) On their inner theigh as opposed to putting it on a tag/collar. A lot of things much worse I won't go in to. I quit when I saw what was really happening, but regadless.

I mute the TV instantly when I see those, they're heartbreaking.

I donate quite a bit to the Humane Society, ASPCA and other local animal charities - it's sad to these innocent creatures get treated the way they do by the biggest animal of all - humans.

I am not alone after all. I turn my head and grab the remote.

The one with Sarah M singing brings tears to my eyes. Not ashamed to admit it either.

Creating/campaigning for new dog parks is always an alternative when wanting to help.

I used to volunteer but could not take the sight of sick and malnourished animals being brought in or dumped on the front door step anymore.

There is a new highly review rated dog show coming out. It is called "My dog ate what".

That is the size of a motorcycle license plate... I hope you're exaggerating. Also, I have never heard of an adopted dog having any tattoo so I really don't know how prevalent that really is. Did you used to work out of Michael Vick's basement?
