Dad wants to trade RS6 in ,what to get?

Happy Holidays everybody!!

So my dad has an Audi RS6 with 55k miles, the car is out of warranty and he'd like something new with a warranty.

He wants AWD, something fast and maybe $50k tops.

So we are going to look at the S4, and also I told him he needs to drive a 335 and then consider the 335XI from there. He had his heart set on the S4 as did I, but after doing my homework I ended up with my 3 and haven't regretted my decision (I don't have the car yet).

I told him BMW has the 4 yr/50k maintenance program which Audi just dropped..I saw the bmw twinkle in his eyes..

So I'd like to hear your opinions and obviously there will be the BMW bias here but that's ok I'd love to hear what you have to say.

335xi but I'd seriously consider a CPO 545 with Blizzaks if space was an issue.

50k?? thats a significant downgrade from a RS6.

get a 335xi with xede and I am sure he will be happy. It should be as fast as the rs6 and handle better. Plus you can get a stick instead of the stupid auto in the rs6.

As a former RS6 guy, I can tell you that it is going to be verrry difficult to have a car as enjoyable as that for less than 50k. Heck, it's going to be difficult under 85k! (at least when buying a car new)

I completely understand where your dad is coming from on the warranty issue, and wish him luck. If I wanted the same feeling as the RS6 in the BMW line, then the M5 would be the way to go.

Although my S4's were great cars, and the 335 is sure to please me as well, the RS6 is in a completely different conceptual level. It cradles and comforts as well as excites and breathes fire. However, the payment was just a bit too steep, and I am having to "settle" for vehicles in the 50k'ish arena.

I also looked at quite a few cars, and as you can tell I ended up on the 335. For pure driving enjoyment and level of refinement, it hit all the marks for me and the honey.

If all wheel drive is important (along with amenities), go for the 335xi or the S4. I personally am done with Audi after having run into some service issues that I felt weren't addressed satisfactorily, and I hope that BMW steps up if it becomes necessary in the future. Either way, you would have a great vehicle to drive.

Hi everyone,

Wanted to give you a little update. Today we went looking/driving. Stopped at Audi first to look at the S4/RS4. My dad immediately goes to the black RS4 in the showroom and loved it, but a little much $$. We ended up taking out an S4, and honestly we didn't like it as much as we thought. It was a nice car, sounded good, pretty fast, etc..but getting out of the RS6 it just didn't feel right, it didn't really feel connected to the road/driver..and I almost got this until I drove the 335 and was hooked. Us 2 Audi lovers walked away unimpressed.

Well..I said lets at least go take the 335 for a ride, I wanted him to check it out and I also wanted another ride in one since I'm getting antsy in my pantsy waiting for mine. 10 seconds into the ride he turns and says to me "I love this car, it just feels so smooth, it wraps around you. It's rock solid, I love it, it does everything perfectly" Wow all that so soon! But again, he couldn't leave his RS6 so he decided to keep it. He did say he would take the 335 anyday over the S4, even if they were the exact same price. As much as he loved the 335, he is in love with his RS6 more and will deal with high maintenance costs..

I'm not complaining as I love the car too. I guess it's not such a bad situation to be in for him, he still has a great car either way.

So a fun day, got to check out some BMW's and BTW as much as I like Audis, I was much more excited to be at BMW checking out the cars..they just do it for me.

BTW we didn't even go look at a G35X, thought it is a good value for $35k.

It's juuuussst not in the same league as an M5 or RS6, not even the S6.

1) You cant even spell Infiniti. 2) It's not made to be in the same league as those cars at all.

3) To everyone, he wants a 50k car so why are there so many reccomendations for RS4's and M5's?
