That's about it. You find the same at 10/20, 20/40, 40/80 games?

its my game of choice 4-8 limit. yes, let them chase. they dont ALWAYS hit. makes pot bigger or you can chase down that dam flush it only 8 bux to call . its not as stressful as no limit. I find it more fun.

You take a risk just walking down a busy street, or getting on an airplane.

My friend says the same thing "I don't gamble."

He bought a $300K rental property last year (he doesn't make very much money) and has lost about $20K so far on it.

Yet when I tell him that I'm having some people over for a friendly $20 game of poker... that's gambling.

Your example of your friend is manny things but gambling it ain't....

Assigning odds to life's curve balls is a misguided human attempt to gain control over that which we in fact have none

I might try the 10/20 game in Tunica next weekend. I've been playing a lot of 3/6 online and those bastards chase like a mother. Nothing like have a donkey flop bottom pair w/ace kicker and call you all the way down only to pair his Ace on the river.

If find limit encourges BAD play.

Here's a horrible hand I saw last night at a 3/6 online table:

player A(1st to act): J J
player B: A 8 off suit

Pre-flop: A-bet, B-raise, A-reraise, B-reraise, A-Call

Flop: J Q Q rainbow (A-bet, B-Raise, A-reraise, B-Call)
Turn: J Q Q Q (A-Bet, B-Raise, A-reraise, B-Call)
River: J Q Q Q A

Player B get lucky by rivering an A, giving him bigger full house (Like he thought Ace high was good the entire time)

in my opinion bad play comes from a player .. not by the limit of the table. dont tell me you never seen a idiot at a no limit table. lol

anwyas 3/6 and 10/20 is a HUGE difference amongest players.

noobs usually start learning to play at 2/4 and 3/6 and even 4/8 but thats why to me its a good game. bluffing is overrated. just dont bluff on low limit game.

You can't really bluff people off hands in limit regardless of the limit. If they have already committed, usually they will stay committed to the end. No limit takes that away (depending on how more it is to call) with two simple words...ALL IN.

I agree....it's the game that causes bad play. Atleast in NL you can manipulate the pot making his "loose" calls unprofitable. Hard to do that in Limit (esp at 8+ person table).

How was I supposed to know? Anyway, lots of people say that.

I have yet to play no limit at a casino, I want to try... unfortunately the Montreal casino doesn't have it.

You wouldn't call it a gamble? I'd say most business ventures are a gamble to a certain extent... and purchasing a property for the sole purpose of making money (i.e. not to live in) is a business venture IMO.

Anyway, sorry for the .

Any of you play online? I hate playing with total strangers online but maybe we could get an e90post game together at some point so at least we know we're not being hustled.

I grinded it for 9 hours at a $300 no-limit....and walked away with a $64 profit

I use to play a lot of hold em...

yes anything under 10/20 at indian casinos... people will call anything just to see what happens.

at vegas you have a lot of new people playing NL and Limit, so if ur sole purpose is to make money... proper play on a limit table will win if you can sit and wait for hands for hours.... but its sort of boring.
NL will get you proper play especially if you have enough bank role. Less than 200 at a no limit game is asking for trouble as your most likely the short stack already. These days you never get to chose a table.. its always full and u have to sign up....

so to me NL is actually more fun...and rewards are good if you have the bank role to start with. Limit is where to make a little money (very slowly and boring) unless u just get unlucky many many times.....

both can earn you line passes and free meals at vegas for just 2-4 hrs of play above $9/18

i play 60/120, depend who u play with, but from my experience its more loose than 4/8 etc etc. i guess good strag. is to have position and dont slow play.know ur players, look at them and ask them what they have, and there body or facial expression will tell u what cards they have.

I dropped $75 on FTP this past weekend. Saw huge suck outs on the 3/6 table (3/6 online plays more like a 10/20). One player called down to the river with pocket 2's only to spike a 2 on the river for a full house. $50 pot.

I'm down about $1k since November '06. My game has really gone to Sh!t since November. Can't figure out if I'm playing really weak, of just what.

That's soo true. I saved about $500 by getting a read off a player by doing that same thing. There's a good book out by a form FBI agent (Navarro) on human tells.
