Because the are likely cheap cast wheels made in China.

"Alloy" doesnt meen anything in terms of quality, all wheels are some grade of alloy.

They are cheap replica's, nothing more. If you like them, get them. they may be great and they may never give you any trouble...but if they do just remember you get what you pay for.

If you don't do any tracking and you drive on relatively smooth roads, go for it. Just get some taller tires (45 or 50 series) just in case.

If you're willing to put wheels of that quality on your car, then go for it.

Loads of wheels, even expensive ones, are made in China, so what is your point?

Do you mean by that the profile of a tire? As in 265/40ZR18.

You have a point, however just because some of them are expensive doesnt mean they are better. Alot of people who are uneducated on wheels will blow ridiculous amounts of money on wheels that are hardly worth more than the materials they're made up of.

Your best tool is the internet and forums like this one or E46fanatics (try the wheel and tire sections), if you can find people who own these exact wheels and are relatively issue free over the course of ownership then go for it. If you can't find any reviews than I would save your money.

that's actually not that big of a difference compared to the CL vmr sellers or any other brand of generics.

They are most likely crap, heavy & impossible to balance properly.

I was sucked in by this stuff once before, never again....

Yes, sorry. To raise the "height" of the tire is what I meant to recommend for him.

haha I've never had any experience with VMR, but I thought they were supposed to be higher quality knock-offs?

Honestly, most people aren't going to have issues with wheels unless they go tracking or auto-x and/or if they drive on crappy roads; where there are more torsional stresses involved.

My take on it is that at least the knock-offs are cheap, so if it cracks or bents, just replace it
But yeah, I would personally prefer the real deal. For just that reason alone: they're the real deal
I own 3 sets of authentic Volks btw, but I'm not biased as you can see =]

My point is they are CHEAP CAST wheels made in China. Yes there are some decent quality wheels coming out of China but thet are not $500/set.

VMR's have been out for several years and their customer service is decent.

There is virtually no information on these wheels.

Thats the reason why people rave about VMR's.
