Craigslist Selling
This is a response to the $%^% Ebay thread but!
Although only 20 years old been selling stuff on craigslist for years. Had alittle scare awhile back and now bring a knife with me to every sale. Anyone else sell locally instead of using ebay? |

living in california crazy things happen. I wouldn't bring a knife or anything of that nature. Although I do meet when the sun is out, preferably in the morning or before 4pm and somewhere local as well. When I leave I make sure the buyer does not follow me and that we go our separate ways. I've had non-paying bidders for ebay and have had to wait. My advice for selling advice on craig's list is to take very good pictures and link them through photobucket instead of using their small crappy thumbnails given to upload pics.

do you mind telling us what happened to made you want to bring a knife now?
If it is a high priced item I usually bring a friend. If it is under $100 I usually just meet by myself in a high populated area. |

I've sold locally many times using craigslist...no problems yet!
So far, everyone has been pretty normal and easy going...Let's hope it stays that way

no problems so far. buy/sell some electronics on CL once in a while. i usually meet them at a random parking lot somewhere. usually at night because i work in the day. i can see how things can get sketchy though. haven't bought/sold anything too expensive on CL, so maybe that's why.

I once sold 200 Xbox, PC, and PS2 games on Craigslist, and it went smooth as can be.

i've sold plenty of things from $200-$650 on craigslist but i always make sure to meet at Starbucks (or any other populated area) and I always count the money and check the bills to make sure they're real (lots of sketchy people out there, no reason to take a chance...). And since I live close-by and I walk home, I walk along a main street and have a route so you can't follow me by car.
yes i'm a bit paranoid, lol. |

I use Kijiji which is basically craigs list and usually just sell tickets to parties/concerts. Never had any problems, but then again I always meet during the day in a mall or starbucks.

I'm an idiot and had the dude come to my house all four times to pick the stuff up I was selling, which were the entire Dragonball/Dragonball Z manga set, an iPod video, iPod nano, and an LCD monitor. Guess I got lucky

i had sold quite a number of things on craigs and kijiji, usually the buyer comes to my house. if i am buying something, i go to their house to look at it and check out the item before returning another day with the money to actually buy it (esp if the thing is more than $500, i dont want to bring that kind of cash with me).
i bought my $1500 winter beater through craigs a few years back. went to the guys house to look at the car then had him drive it into town a few days later and make the transaction at the local saaq (quebec's DMV) place so i can register the vehicle immediately. so far no problems with this arrangement.

I love craigslist as I don't even use eBay anymore since I really dislike PayPal and those Nigerian princes. Been selling and buying for about 7 years now, never had an issue when it comes to getting robbed or scammed. However, I am extra careful when selling or buying high priced items.

Bought a Kicker 15inch Comp subwoofer for 15 bucks off of a friend of a friend because he needed money in a pinch. Went to sell it on craigslist, met up with this filipino dude at the top of a parking garage and he had like 8 of his buddies with him. He was cool but his friend was like man why dont we just jack this fool. Came out fine in the end but honestly you never know.
