HOLY Sh*t: Carbon Revolution Wheels!

Guys,
Did you see this? The world's first full carbon fiber wheels? 19 x 8.5 wheels weigh only 12.3lbs! They were made for the SCC ultimate aero. Here is their site:

+1 I'd like to see them tested first. Though I don't doubt the manufacturer probably already has. They look amazing and the weight saving can only be welcomed too.

Maybe for a car but the Britten V1000 had carbon fibre wheels way back in 91.

Carbon wheels won't last on the road and there is not a single racing organization in the world that allows them in competition.

It will save weight, but when it fails, it FAILS. That's a scary thought. Hopefully it is super strong

There are other carbon wheels out there. This is not the first. Dymag has been making them for years.

I think so too. I know that as a company they're out of business

Did you guys look at the website? They are tested. They have videos of the tests and the results.
A curb best showed there was no damage done to the CF wheel while the aluminum wheel was bent (with pics).
If I had the money, I'd get them.

Totally agree here, with the ever decreasing sidewall width of modern rubber the chance of hitting a deep pot holes are huge and so are the effect on traditional alloys are will documented where they buckle. But my thoughts, right or wrong is that in the same situation the CF rim will snap.

I remember the carbon motorcycle wheels had a crazy x-ray schedule requirement back in the day, definitely not for use on the road, back then anyway (mid 90's to early 2000's when I stopped paying attention).

Well hello Captain Obvious! Nice to see you around here. I honestly don't think ANYONE looked at that picture and thought it was a car though.
