What to get for 15k as a DD

Looking for a daily driver I can buy for 15k or less. I'm just tired of driving the 335i for work when I can beat up on a crappy car instead.

Camry, Accord.... You have quite a few options. You could even buy a new car in the compact/subcompact segment

The thought of selling the 335i completely and get a cheap ass DD for a couple of years is running through my mind.

Thats what I did ... got a 2011 VW Jetta SE. Very happy with the decision...less stress mainly (I am OCD about my car, and hate it when I scratch, dent, ding, scrape, smack etc. it). This is so much more comfortable to drive, relaxed if you will, but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss my 335.

You're not the first or the last I am sure. I did the same last year by getting rid of my BMW and getting a $12k 2005 Grand Cherokee.
I decided that growing my savings account was a lot more important and mentally reassuring to me than throwing away $600+ a month on a car that wouldn't be worth much after 5 years.

Could you be a bit more descriptive in your needs/wants? Do you want a sedan? coupe? suv? truck? Should the car be new? newer? used with up to X amount of miles? warranty? manual or auto?

Dump the car. Buy a beater and rebuy an other car cash in a few years. For the first time in so many years I have no car note.

It is but for some people no....I used to store my RSX-S in the winter when I was younger....it was my pride and joy and I didnt wanted to damage it. I used to drive around in a 1000$ Mazda 323 to go to work and during winter time.....the RSX-S was a waste of money since I only used it at night and during week ends.

Exactly! I don't get people (and the OP is far from the only one) that don't want to commute in a BMW 3-series - even the M3s - because they think it's too nice to drive everyday. The entire reason the car exists is that it's nice to drive on the commute - which is when most of us spend time in our cars. Who the heck wants a 4-door sedan for their weekend fun car?

Get a cheap use Focus sedan for the commute and get an E85 Z4 roadster for the weekends.

Not if you're putting a ton of miles on the car.

I did the same thing recently: e90 335i -> e46 325i. It was fun blowing some cash on a loaded lease once, but that wasn't happening a second time around. I miss the 335's torque and a couple of the creature comforts once in awhile, but 95% of the time they're completely unnecessary.

Unless it's a lease, what's the problem? The more miles you're logging, the more time you get to enjoy the car, and thus the more important it is to have something nice. You want something nice that you never get to drive, buy an old Ferrari - the inability to log a lot of miles is baked right in!

Not necessarily. An old neighbor of mine was the original owner of a 308 and clocked at least 140K miles without having to take it to the dealer except for routine maintenance. The more you drive them, the more reliable they are.
