Global Climate Change? Or is it...
Very recently all these weird weather episodes have been occurring. Each year it seems that teh east coast of the United States is getting warmer as the west coast seems to be experienceing unseasonably colder temperatures. Do you guys thing that the Weather Charactristics are shifting or what?
Also, in Europe... It is pretty crazy to see Hurricane force winds with a regular low pressure front. It has also been cold in Australlia I believe I heard. So... End of the world? Climate Change? Global Warming? And yes... The "average" temperature throughout the world has risen. The polar ice caps are melting. Maybe global warming has caused erratic instability in the atmosphere. Only time will tell. Co2. If we have been puping out all this Co2 into the atmosphere for the past couple hundred years... It has to have some effect on our climate. If you run your car in your enclosed garage it apparently isn't very healthy? Yes teh earth's atmosphere is able to cope with Co2 under normal circumstances. But, we are outputting faster then it can naturally cleanse itself... Oh well. Just a little "freaked" about what is going on... |

As someone who lives in the Northeast I can say this winter has been very mild for us. Where I live we had a high of about 65 a couple weeks ago. That is unheard of in January for this area. These past few days have been very cold though. Our whole winter has been up and down.

"According to a survey in this week's Time magazine, 85% of Americans think global warming is happening. The other 15% work for the White House." --Jay Leno
Global warming is real and Im sure most of us are aware of that. I did a presentation on GW a few months back and stumbled upon some disturbing stuff while doing research on it. |

What sort of "disturbing stuff"??? Care to share?
I truely believe the global warming is already happening. The weather has been changing for the pass few years. Thunderstorms as well as other weather pheonormal (sp?) are getting stroger and stronger. I wonder what the world would be like after 50yrs or next generation.

The Yellow River in the Tibetan Plateau over in China has lost nearly 20% of its volume over the past decade. The nearby structures have been cracking and damaged due to thawing of the land surrounding it. Some middle eastern regions depend on the nearby glaciers for water and such. Now that they are melting, those regions are losing their main source for water and also the rising temperatures. As we all know Las Vegas is a desert and we had to divert the Colorado River to bring water there. Also, a made man lake (forgot the name) had been made to suppor its water need. The Colorado River is pretty much dried up already. If this keeps up, soon the man made lake will be dried up as well and Vegas will be in one hell of a pickle. There's more but I dont feel like going into it right now. haha it takes too long... |

There is no question the climate is changing...........................but that is not through human interference, just because of natural causes, it`s happening for million of years.................................no factories, no cars, no humans what so ever in the "old" days......................so IMHO the discussion about global warming is getting way out of hand......................
![]() ![]() It is on the other hand a verry beautifull way of raising taxes, and a lot of people are glad to pay it...........................OMG.................. .....go back to high school ![]() |

[QUOTE=well maybe you should go to college and learn to think. true, the environment has fluctuations in avg. temp./ weather patterns, but real-life statistics gathered by leading environmental scientists show human interference cause these fluctuations to vary significantly higher than what the natural pattern should be.
if you got the time you should read "An Inconvenient Truth." and if you cant read then theres a DVD as well yes, its by Al Gore and he's a democrat but i believe this issue is far beyond politics. its all about if we want to deal with the issue at hand or not. either way, global warming is a reality whether we choose to recognize that or not. but ignorance is bliss for most people and sadly in our politics, issues like these are only heard when they are popular within the masses. and people dont want to hear bad news. god forbid we need to get off our lazy asses and do something about it.[/QUOTE] I have a Master's degree, so I've been to college. That solves that problem. But propaganda is what it is, and I call it as such.

Then you can believe the lunatic we have now in the WH... Anyway, Al Gore or McCain, the data is so overwhelming that there is no need for the science to believe it or not. Al Gore just put it all together and tries to promote it. Anything wrong with it??? |

haha well if ur looking at CO2...
the levels of CO2 rise and decline during the different seasons... during spring and summer CO2 levels are usually lower because trees are able to absorb CO2 and convert it into glucose. in fall and winter these levels are usually higher because many trees and plants lose their leaves and therefore CO2 consumption is lower. now its fact that although CO2 levels do rise and decline each year, the overall level of CO2 is much higher than what it used to be... You can see the a sharp increase during the Industrial Revolution till now. We all know that we need Green House Gases to heat up the planet, but the real question is how much is good and how much is bad. its geting hotter each year and the seasons have been pretty unpredictable at times... i've only had about 1 weak of rain this winter season... which isn't alot for where i'm at right now. honestly i dont think we'll be the ones to really face these problems... its probably a few generations away...

Data can be manipulated to prove anything you want it to prove. The ice caps on Mars also are receding. I guess Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid also blame that on man, cows and SUVs.

If this is true then maybe it's the Sun's temperature that's increasing, not Earth's. Maybe as the Sun gets older it gets hotter...

Ah, you're right, only Dems manipulate the data...you're completely right. That is why are we where we are today with the Republicans showing the "real" data... This Hurricane in Europe is every year's occurence (?), Katrina happens every other year (?). Did the DC Area get snow this year, so far??? Did the Satellite photos lie, too (Greenland, Antartica...)??? Get real, man. The Earth goes through the cycles and that is normal, however, it has NEVER gone through one like this, and it has never reached the temerature (and CO2 levels) like now... So, yes, it is the men's fault for all that... |
