Hard meaning: Tough, badass, hardcore, too cool for you and everyone else, etc.

Here are a few examples:

- People at the gym that walk by and look straight ahead trying their best to look jacked. I try to be nice to strangers and at least acknowledge someone's presence when I walk by. This is even worse when it's at work and you casually KNOW the person, yet that can't say shit or even look at you.

- People driving around in their Mazda 3 or Hyundai Elantra with the windows down, sunroof open, and music blasting. Get to a stop light and they are leaning to the side like they are hard/cool. Then they floor it off the line and cut you off until braking for the next light.

- People telling stories about how they "would have" kicked someone's ass if they said another word to them or looked at them the wrong way. Seriously?

- People talking about "hitting Vegas" and partying like a rock star because they are so rich and have so many friends.

- People that drink and brag about what a badass they were over the weekend at the "clizzub" where they nearly got arrested.

- People that turn into Michael Schumacher on the road. Seriously, you aren't that good of a driver. Please don't cause accidents by driving 65 in a 35 and weaving in high traffic. Then, when you do the speed limit, they mean mug like they are going to do something.

- Girls that walk around like they are God's gift to men....acting like they are too hot to smile.

- Billy badass that always has a story about a fight he won easily or a hot chick he banged without even having to ask.

Honestly, people think they are so hard. I believe about 1% of the stories I hear from these chutiyas.

Because people are also animals on the inside too, and trying to act tough/rough is also a natural thing because it shows dominance over others. Or at least, that's what they think.

It's also a douchey ass thing to do, too. People that try to act tough annoy the bejesus out of me. Getting angry and freaking out over small things is so obnoxious, and it shows that the person is incredibly short-sighted and let their emotions get the best of them (i.e. a huge lack of self-control). There are very few things worth literally fighting over in this world. IMO, when someone goes to kick someone's ass, it's because they aren't intelligent enough to come up with a good comeback.

As a result of people that act that way, it actually would be very beneficial to learn some sort of basic self-defense or something..

I'm driving down 355 and some DB gang bangers in a bright yellow 70's pick-up are swerving in and out of traffic with thick white smoke billowing out the back every time the driver hits the gas. I manage to get past him due to a poor lane choice on his part. I signal a lane change, and I am 3/4 through it when he flies up from behind and tries to occupy the same space as me. I don't move over and he tries to "intimidate" me to move. I don't. A few moment's later, the truck pulls along side and the passenger leans way out the window and gives me the finger. I just laugh, which makes them get all hot and bothered.

The passenger is making "Pull over motions," and swerves into my lane, then the far right lane. I'm now looking at the driver, who with a look of pure hate and anger, pulls a switch blade knife, flips the blade open and brandishes it at me. From his car. At 60 MPH. (sigh) I burst out laughing, tears in my eyes, which only served to infuriate them further and there is more knife waving. I hold up my finger in the "hold on a second" gesture and reach in my pocket for my badge. I pull back up to them and show it to them and shrug.

The immediate change in behavior was unbelievably comical. They slowed down by 20 MPH, stopped weaving and wouldn't look at me at all. In fact, it looked like the driver shit himself he was so scared.

Why does a punk ass gang banger think anyone would be scared of a knife in another car at highway speeds? Stupidity abounds, and like Fstop said, it depends on where you're from, but in the mean streets of the chi town burbs it's a little ridiculous.
