Who's Upgrading to Windows Vista?
So now that Bill Gates' big day is here, who's going to contribute more to his fortune by upgrading to Windows Vista?

I've just updated to Vista Ultimate after running the beta for over a year. I love the OS, period. Also installed Office 2007. Pretty straight forward install for both...and a lot faster installation than XP.

I installed a pirated copy of Office and nothing happened. Well at least nothing yet. It's running smoothly.

And no, the system will not delete things it doesn't like. Vista has been cracked for months, and the latest crack version, that has been out for over a month, works perfecty (Not that I am using it...). So Vista was cracked a lot quicker than XP it seems. Savic |

I'm installing it today. Can't wait to get Media Center running and connected to my home entertainment center.

I'll probably get it with a new PC cos mine is due for a major update. Used to build my own by buying the desired hardware but I think I'll just buy one off the shelf then upgrade what I need.
The question I'm interested in, for the Software Engineers here, is: are any of you upgrading to Vista just to stay ahead with the current technology and work with the latest stuff (Windows Presentation Foundation etc., though I believe it works on XP too), or are you unconcerned with that since your current job doesn't (or won't anytime soon) deal with that? I'll probably install Ubuntu on my spare PC once I get a new one. Been meaning to check out Linux for awhile.

I partitioned my hard drive and I am setting up a dual boot. This way I can try all my software out on Vista and still have XP until I am ready to switch 100%.

I'va actually been using Vista for about 2 months now and i think its pretty good. You need a good PC and a good graphics card. I havent seen any real problems yet with it, besides waiting for symantec antivirus corporate edition to be released for it.
