2010/2011 Camaro SS
What are they rated at? Oh man I just ran one on the freeway, first run I was pulling away slowly and shut it off @ 140ish and second run he took the jump but I stayed with him head to head. It was yellow camaro SS with some black stripes along the side and had square looking exhaust. I thought camaro ss has oval tips. Oh and I was boosting 13.7psi according to my boost gauge. It was fun! I gave him thumbs up but he probably didn't see through his tinted window. Camaro SS is faster than I thought can't wait to have perfect working meth injection with proper boost setting

The SS has an LS3 Corvette motor. In the 6 speed it is rated at 426HP. In the auto it is rated at 400HP.
I have tussled with a couple and had no problem but, like any LS3 equipped car, the SS is quite easy to tune to over 500HP for a couple of thousand dollars. If you were running a Procede and it was close, he probably had something aftermarket. Out of all the muscle cars, the 11 Mustang GT is the one to worry about.

I have driven a 6mt 5.0 gt and that thing is fast as he'll. Not as much low end tq as our cars, even wihout a tune, but much Stronger on the top end. My tuned 335i with fmic doesn't feel quite as fast as the gt I drove. But again, my car definitely has much more useable torque |

The RS package (which you can add to SS) gives you the "square" exhaust. I think it's more of a chrome trim piece built into the diffuser, but I could be wrong.

Either way, while the new 5.0 Mustang is potent for sure, some publications have been pulling higher trap speeds in the LS3 powered Camaro: http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...07775a541f.pdf http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests I've driven both, and while they have similar peak power numbers (426hp vs 412hp, with the Stang having a lower curb weight to help offset differences in peak power), with the LS3 having a bit more of an advantage in the torque department, the big 6.2L really feels stronger all around IMO. Granted, it's a larger displacement pushrod motor, so low end torque is expected to be stronger (it is), that motor just gives the impression of having a larger overall usable powerband. Whereas in comparison the 5.0 feels more like a high revver (32V DOHC motor with VVT on both sides, it's to be expected). With that said, I prefer the chassis of the 'Stang as well as the visibility (no joke, the Camaro's visibility really is horrid all around), but with publications and private owners trapping at 111+mph in stock form with the new SS (at sea level of course), it's no joke. Just my $.02

My old coworker has a 10 SS, heavily modded, supercharged and cammed. Putting down 508 rwhp and 475 torque at 6300 rpm.

I have a 2002 Z28 Camaro. You guys are talking apples and oranges here. Cliche but true "there is no replacement for displacement". Your comparing a drag race between a 3.0T and a 6.2NA. Of course there are ways to mod the hell out of your 3.0T and pull some sick numbers, but that same idea can be said for the camaro at a much cheaper cost.
Don't get me wrong but i absolutely love my new 335i xdrive coupe, but its not a pure Dragster. It's everything the Camaro isnt. |

For a SS to reach this... i don't know... but I would guess cam and heads at least. labor alone would put you at >2K... unless everyone's doing their own work... doubt it. Or supercharger at >5K Plus BMW has a great advantage with Meth. for a SS to reach good traps it needs low DA |

yes you are right about the labor. LAbor alone would skyrocket the price of tuning a NA camaro. Gains of a good 100whp can be easily seen with any of the LS engines with bolt ons, cam, and tune. To be closer to the original statement i made, you would have to put a SLP 575 or the not yet released ZL1 up against a 335i 3.0T. |

1. it will be faster right out the dealer.... 2. pulley + tune >2k will walk over any n54 upgraded turbo or not 3. 7-8k you can change the blower to a bigger one and be in a HPF m3 league... not very costly for the sheer amount of power that powerplant can put out.... ask me how i know.....lol.....going from my upgraded turbo n54 to a CTS-V now

We also don't know the specs on said car; could be a very mild street cam, relatively small blower pushing <5psi boost, with very rich AFR's and conservative timing tables. Although typically the GM LS-motors take pretty damn well to making big power. Either way though, I'm sure it's probably a hoot to drive!
