I don't really see why we can't import vehicles. Sure you can claim the safety argument... but is that really dangerous to others or more to yourself as the driver of these non-ordained vehicles...? Emissions I guess is the other argument but the US traditionally has had one of the most lenient controls until recently. Either way... don't see the harm in a few imported cars.

Well, in Canada we don't have that problem as we can import anything 15 years or older that passes a basic inspection. UNFORTUNATELY the JDM import craze in Canada is pretty much over. 99% of the cars brought in were complete pieces of junk and they ended up being driven pretty much exclusively by nerds and heat bags.

I do agree however that it is a gross miss use of federal resources that are no doubt needed elsewhere.

Hearing this stuff really pisses me off. Homeland Security has nothing better to do than harass some guy about cars he legally imported into the US? I guess they caught all the terrorists, tapped all the phone lines and solved all of Americas other crimes. This is what they spend my tax dollars on? This is how those six figure a year agents spend their days? Harassing law abiding citizen, stealing their property and their right to pursue happiness? This country makes me fucking sick now.
