Talking 800 horse power Mustang on the way for 2012 !!!

yea boy that is sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

http://money.cnn.com/2011/04/07/auto...dex.htm?hpt=C2

800-horsepower Mustang on the way

The 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake will be available with an upgrade kit enabling it to produce 800 horsepower.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- An 800-horsepower version of the Ford Mustang will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show later this month.

The 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake will be built by Shelby American Inc., a Las Vegas-based performance car company. Shelby works with Ford Motor Co. (F, Fortune 500) to create various high-performance versions of the iconic Mustang.

While the base Super Snake will produce a mere 750 horsepower, those who feel the need for more power will be able to add an optional upgrade package that will provide 50 more. Shelby provides no warranty on the engine and transmission, in either case.

The base version of the outgoing 2011 Super Snake produces 630 horsepower, although no-warranty option packages have been available in recent months to push horsepower in those cars up to as much as 800, as well.

The 2012 Super Snake will be legal to drive on public roads on all 50 states, the carmaker promised, and it will cost less than $100,000.

Prices for the 2011 Super Snake start about $80,000 in total, including the separate purchase of a car from Ford -- a factory-produced Shelby GT500 -- and the necessary modifications.

"Shelby American has a rich history at the New York International Auto Show," said John Luft, president of Shelby American. in an announcement. "The very first Shelby car was introduced there in 1962, as well as the 1968 and 2008 Shelby GT500KR and the 2006 Shelby Hertz GT-H."

The original partnership between Ford and Shelby American founder Carroll Shelby, one that created Mustang-based performance cars that can be worth millions of dollars today, ended in 1969. Ford and Shelby entered into a new agreement in 2003 that has produced a new line of Shelby Mustangs, some built by Ford Motor Co. and others built

lol even they're not confident in their product. I don't think this car is gonna be all that great. 800HP in a mustang? Good luck getting that power down

$80k rustang with no warranty? I'd rather have a Z06 for my money.

Another worthless mustang from Shelby. He has destroyed his name over the last decade putting his name and rep on cars like this. Although truth be told he fucked it up before that when he went to Dodge.

Anyone who buys this car needs to be immediately rushed to the emergency room, because they have had a massive stroke.

I used to be a mustang owner and I hate these SHelbys. Wayyyy too heavy, and wayyy to unrefined in every way. I almost bought a GT500 a few years ago until I went and drove one. I stuck with my 03 Cobra instead. I even knew guys who rushed to dealer to get one and trade intheir 03-04 Cobras and then after a month or so regreted it and tried to sell them.

As it was already said above^ For 80k get a ZO6 with a warranty, and watch as the dude in a SHelby goes up in smoke trying to race you.

Opinion:

It's a Walmart supercar-wannabe AND a baby-boomer money vacuum.

Looks "great" on paper....except for the exterior.... and interior.... ....and suspension... and live rear axle... etc etc etc. This 'upgrade' doesn't fix most of the actual problems with that chassis (rear diff failures, excessive vibration, fugliness, etc). In fact more power will exacerbate those problems.

And, I betcha the M3 *still* handles better..... Merc does this too.... jams a huge engine in an insufficiently robust chassis (C63 AMG) and forgets to tune the whole package. The M3 was faster will less power because it drives better.

Personally I would (and have) had more actual FUN driving a little 190hp Elise.

You can get that now. Not a factory Ford Mustang. A re-work at the Shelby shop.

The 2012-2013 Factory GT500 will be 600-650hp to compete with the new ZL1 Camaro. Pony car wars are raging strong.

Like it or not, am I the only one that thinks it is just a bad idea to make such power so affordable? Even 400+ is near too much for the road.

There are two mustangs that put down more peak HP than the M3. The GT500 and the BOSS 302. The GT500 is a porker but the changes they made for 2011 put it in a lot better of a position than it was with the iron block.

I don't think I need to get into the BOSS vs M3 comparison because there isn't much of one when it comes to performance. Performance-wise, the 5.0 is on par with the M3, despite the smaller peak HP number (practically negligible though). So, that kinda negates your inclination to believe that Ford is just putting big engines in an incapable chassis. The GT500 maybe, but it's an "image" car while the BOSS is clearly the Mustang's all-business performance model.

inb4 lame ass interior comparisons.

Even Better!

Because it's faster, with more horsepower....surely you'd rather have this than an M3 or a M5, or even that new silly snake:

INCONCEIVABLE!

The car and package are a buzz-generator and will end up in some guy's garage who just wants to talk shop about it and be proud of numbers. Oh well.

800HP is pretty freaking sweet, you gotta admit.... Lord knows I'd have no idea how to put that power down, but I bet it would be really fun.

That it is.

Sometimes I think the majority of members on Bimmerpost don't see anything but performance numbers when a huge reason for buying a car could be that it's fucking fun. I remember driving my friend's Bullitt, and even though it was inferior through the corners I had a shit-eating grin plastered across my face the entire time I was driving it. Cruising on a sunny afternoon, music playing, arm hanging on the window sill, hearing that V8 burble; this is how I got tagged with the Mustang fever.

I hear ya. My '68 GTO was no track monster, but I haven't driven anything recently that compares to the visceral experience it provided. I've never had that much fun, ever. Too bad it drank gas at a ridiculous rate, but the fun factor was immeasurable.

Shelby need to return to is roots.
he is literately making car out of ford's parts bin, he need to get in what it made him the man he is today "Racing"

i think he should start racing its new GT350 and develop it further, not just slapping FRPP parts and call it a day.
