Motor Trend - 430.3 rhp / 283.1 wtq I suspect the numbers are somewhere in between the two tests. Nothing to write home about. Car sounds fantastic! |

Haters seem to be under the impression the LF-A is actually getting cross shopped with cars. Race car drivers, Professional Athletes and the like do NOT shop for cars. There's no point in comparing this to anything else in it's price bracet because they either A) already have those cars or B) don't care about the dollar to performance ratio.
Do I like the way it looks? not so much. Does the car accomplish everything toyota set out to do? I think so. And I think it embodies the "japanese" spirit more so than the GTR. Kudos to not filling up this thread with "this car is slow for how much it costs" etc.. |

They had no choice about the pricing. It is not like Audi that can take the Gallardo platform for the R8. The LF-A is overpriced, less than the M3 GTS for instance. IMO M3 GTS is not worth anything other than that the car is OEM. IMO even only the LF-A sound is worth the pricetag, best sounding car toghether with Carrera GT.

If you had the cash would you buy one? I put my hand up, its about one of the most exclusive cars you can own similar to the bugatti. Value for money, sure there are tonnes of other products, but having 1 of maybe 50-75 available in Canada... that is exclusive!

So what is the point in this or any other forum that discusses the merits of one car over another? |

Really nice car but I won't spend that kind of money on a Lexus. I'm sure it's great but I would rather have something with a real heritage for sports cars!

And for your amusement, I personally would take a 458. But most people buying these probably already own a couple Ferraris, Lambos, etc. There is no point in comparing, as it has been well established there are quicker cars for less money. It is kinda like the the Aston Martin argument. Many cars out-perform them, but they have a certain elegance to their design/feel that people find appealing. |

For instance, the biggest joke was Motortrend running a drag race between the LFA and the GTR. Comparing a car that costs less than 100k and can be bought by walking into your local Nissan dealership to a car costing 3 times more that had to be pre ordered with a 20min phone interview is crazy. "Performance" is a VERY fluid term these days and saying a car isn't worth it's price because a cheaper car is as fast (or faster) means you aren't looking at the big picture. As enthusiasts being able to appreciate what a car has set out to do is just as important as recognizing WHAT it can do. There is a laundry list of reasons the LFA is worth its price. Just as there's a laundry list of reasons a Fiat 500 or a Mustang V6 are worth theirs. Discussion comes when a car makes a promise and does NOT deliver. I haven't seen any "LFA is the fastest production car in the world" posters from Lexus...did I miss something? Last edited by whitejdm; 04-12-2011 at 06:11 PM.. |

There are only 10 cars coming to Canada at this point. I'd have to look up the exact breakdown, but not surprisingly, 6 are going to Vancouver, 1 here in Calgary and the other 3 are going out East. |
