So, the wife and I closed on a house and sold the existing house so we figured we would go out to celebrate. Go to the pub area and parking is full, I see a corner space (right next to a stoplight) and make the block to try to get it. As I pull in front first, a guy is standing in the space on a phone. I pull forward (at idle with foot on the brake) and the mirror tags him. I pull back to line up in the space and before I get out, hes has hung up from the previous call (the GF he was holding the space for - who actually was directly behind me and not giving me any room to park) and now has the cops on the line telling them I hit him.

I wait for at least 10 mins passed and no cops so I start to leave, I throw my cell number in front of him and walk off. My wife is still standing by the guy telling him that was pretty crappy. I go about 100 feet and then figure I better not do that and turn around to go back. About that time I see the local LEO.

I meet the cops at the corner with my ID out and tell them I was the one driving the car and the guy was standing in the space and he came in contact with my mirror. After the female cop takes some details and goes to talk to the ' victim' , the male cop talks to me some- said the call they got was someone got hit while in the road and found it surprising that I was there when they showed up. I offer to apologize to him and pay for their evening. He says well, lets make sure hes ok.

They go to talk to the other guy and after about 20 mins come back to tell me we really don't see a problem. I should not have contacted him but he should not have been standing there either.

Kind of put a damper on the evening - but at least all it took was some time. I was more assertive than I should have been (at least behind the wheel). But I never got in the guys face ( even though he was pretty ChickenS).

Certainly could have been more complicated than it was. Glad that was not the case.

My apologies good sir, how dare he stand in the parking space. It was already barbaric for him to allow his female companion to operate the vehicle. She should have been at home working hard on a meal for the family, while simultaneously cleaning the house and ironing his next day work clothes. If it were me I would have walked over to him and let him know that I was very sorry for coming in contact with him with my car, while walking away I would be whispering under my breath how ignorant he was and if my wife was not there I would of taught him a lesson.

Similar thing happen to me a while back. In was renting a movie and when I was backing up I hit some lady right on her ass. She was cool though she said it was her fault because she saw my white lights and thought she could make it across.

100% this. This thread was a complete let down from what I was expecting from the title. Thought you hit a district attorney and was going to have an ACTUALLY epic story.

Each time I tried to even ask the guy something (like his name or what the logo on his shirt was), he would move further away and say ' it didn't matter'. Well maybe, at least until he called the cops.

The meaning behind DA is usually District Attorney, and would have made for a significantly more interesting story.
