Acura MDX handling? Anyone got one?
I was going up a winding hill today and I thought okay let's have some fun.... But then I noticed a white MDX behind me and he wasn't falling behind. I wasn't gunning it but it was very surprising to me that a giant suv had the balls to go around a curve like that.
![]() He finally pulled up next to me and I chickened out and let go of the gas. So Anyone drive an Acura MDX? I'm curious how well these cars handle.

Acura cars handle decent. I have a TL as my DD... while it does not handle like our BMWs its still fun to drive and handles well at high speeds. I have driven the MDX...are we talking about the older body style or the new style? The new style I have driven and it was fast but I did not test out the handling around curves but normal day to day driving it handled decently for a SUV.
I am sure it would be decent. Acura cars are much better then Lexus in terms of handling. |

Quite well actually. I drove my friend's MDX a while ago. But it does not handle as well as the last gen X5 did. I drove the last gen X5 for a year and that thing handling does not betray its weight and size. =D

Okay its good to know that mdx is no slouch. The one I saw was the new model. For sure it looked fast, and yes I probably gave the guy lots to laugh about. Haha

Two of my cousins have the MDX, and, they also both have a 550i and a M5. Not sure why they both got the MDX, but the previous gen, cpo. I can't see how they handle well, but I never drove them. Then again, does anyone buy a SUV for how they handle?

At my previous job we built and repaired speciality emergency vehicles. We built a Tahoe that could handle like it was on rails.

Now that's hard to believe. I've been driven around in a suburban and it's a pig, a very comfortable pic.

How fast were you going? Everyone has their own definition of "not gunning it." It does have a 300 HP V6 and SH-AWD going for it, though

Mywife and I were in the market for a vehicle with 3rd row seating 4 years ago. We narrowed it down to Mazda CX9 and the Acura MDX. I test drove the HELL outta both of them, had the poor guy grabbing the "Oh Shit" handles every few seconds.
The MDX has a variable Suspension setting similar to the sport setting in the newer BMWs and man the confidence it gives you in the twisties is incredible for a "CUV" I'm talkin' very little body roll. With the v6 it was no slouch, int the end we bought the CX9 because of the 9000.00 price dif. but there is not a month that goes by that my wife or I don't say we should have bought the MDX.

This is why I can't stand people arguing tenths when it comes to road tests. Fyi, the MDX isn't that fast, but it had a driver was either one of three things:
1) ballsier 2) better 3) stupider Depending on how fast you two were going, that is. Your car might be faster on paper and on a controlled road course, but if you've got a guy behind you that knows how to drive or simply does not give a fuck, he will keep up. Quick MDX performance stats: 0-60: 8.1s 1/4: 16s @ 88.9 60-0: 134ft Slalom: 62.6 Skidpad: 0.82g Those numbers are terrible compared to a 335i's.

I don't know if this question is out of curiosity or whether you're interested in buying the car. The car handles well. It handles like a car as opposed to an SUV or truck. But I warn you do NOT GET ONE! The newer models are notorious for this flawed battery sensor which Acura fails to see as a problem, and does not offer any solution other than recharging the battery and resetting the error code. YOu will see tons of low mileage, low price fully loaded MDXs online because of this. Don't get one if you're thinking about it. Get a Q7 or X5 instead. |

I drove an RDX with the same system. You basically put your foot down in the middle of a corner and it sorts out the power. |

It aint the car.
Did you ever see the Top Gear where Jeremy bet Hammond they couldn't get a stock delivery van to lap the ring in under 10 minutes? They had this woman race driver and she had a great time tearing round the ring in a van, passing people in Porsches and on sport bikes. Didn't quite crack 10 minutes, but it was close.

Our FX35 (sport pkg) handles very well in the twisties. It feels much more planted in turns than the 135 and has much more rubber on the road.
