With a Tune,Boss 302 intake manifold,larger throttle body,exhaust.

Read up here http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...est/index.html

So it's baseline tune of 437whp was with intake, h-pipe and exhaust? It would've been nice if they had a true stock parts and stock tune 5.0 run on this dyno. 437whp sounds like a lot from just intake, exhaust and tune.

468whp is no joke no matter what dyno it's on, your talking 500-550hp, depending on what a true stock GT would pull on that dyno.

The baseline tune would definitely have been inflated (it's rated at 450 crank), so definitely take the numbers with a grain of salt.

From my research you could get a 450whp 5.0 for around $2g's worth of mods. Most stock 5.0's are laying down 370-380 whp out the box, thats right around 430-440 flywheel bone stock.

These badboys love mods just as much as n54's.....

Guess what my next ride is

owning a 5.0, 380whp out of the box is just not true. There's too many dynos going out there that have been improperly calibrated etc etc. The correctly done dynos are closer to 350-360whp.

And on that note you're also not getting to an actual 450 whp for 2 grand. You just aren't...not a REAL 450wheel. That's virtually 550-600 crank.

Again there's too many crappy dynos running around right now, driving me nuts.

Don't get me wrong, car is fun and freaking a blast...but these numbers are exaggerated

Since when does 550-600 crank equal out to 450whp. theirs only a %15 drivetrain loss give or take a few. Your talking about 60-70 hp less then actual flywheel horsepower.

I find it hard to Believe my 390whp 335i has 500 crank.

Tuners are holding back right now with these tunes, Once they get comfortable with the knock sensors and TI-VCT its a whole new ball game.

Just take a look at people that got custom dyno tunes, Much more WHP then a conventional one. Because the tuner goes all out.

You understand the way drivetrain loss works right? At 15% drive train loss, 550 crank hp * .85 = 467 whp. The mustang could be really efficient and only losing 15%, but owning one I really doubt it's pulling that much efficiency, I'd venture to say it's closer to 20% loss. To get 460 whp at 20% drivetrain loss, you have to have 575 crank. Outside of cars with badly calibrated dynos, I haven't seen a legitimate mustang getting the 450+ crank horsepower you were saying some stock 5.0s were coming with the 5.0s aren't being underrated by 10%. Stock BOSS 302, yes certainly possible. Stock 5.0, sorry I haven't seen this.
I'll admit I was exaggerating with the 550-600 number, but I didn't feel like doing the exact math, and just wanted to prove my point

I also want to stress, freaking love the 5.0 and I'm not ripping on it in the SLIGHTEST. Just these numbers getting thrown around are well over the top and a bit ridiculous . Like the charts saying a CAI only is netting 30 whp.... I just want people to be grounded haha

also imo the n54 platform seems to be much more efficient.
but for point of reference, the M5 with 500 hp. Many many dynos are only going a hair or 2 over 400 whp.

I respect your argument and totally agree that ford out did themselves.

But like every forum their are those idiots who think that a intake gives them 40hp or a TB spacer is 15hp. Then when they get on the dyno they gained like 8hp total lol.

In any case, Whatever the drive train loss may be iam going to have myself a 450whp 5.0

The 5.0's in trucks are seeing 30+whp gains with an intake and tune only. Granted they are running different cams than the GT but the 5.0 responds very well to mods.

It's just a shame the transmissions have been having problems because the engine is sick. It's got the best flowing head of any modern medium/high production engine.

LOL from a quality assurance perspective and a safety perspective that's not a BS problem. Not everyone is going to mod there car with aftermarket clutches.

Its kind of a plague with the 2011 5.0's, seems like they might have fixed it with the 2012's. Who knows it might be the HPFP of ford.
