Rally North America’s “2011 Rally Appalachia” July 18-21, 2011

1000 miles along some of the most scenic roads in the country, surrounded by eighty plus sports cars, muscle cars, and other unique rides, searching for secret check points at incredible places; this is Rally Appalachia.”

Established in the winter of 2009, Rally North America is a non-for-profit organization, aimed at bringing automotive enthusiasts from all over the United States and Canada, together to do to one thing: rallying. While other large rallies require unjustifiably high costs to enter and participate in; Rally North America or RNA, makes road rallies fun and affordable for everyone. Each rally organized by Rally North America, emphasizes one key idea: driving for a cause. There are several charities and non-profit organizations that give back to their causes. RNA believes that by combining the love for the automotive lifestyle and helping those in need, it is possible to do something “good” with the automotive hobby.

Last year’s 2010 Route 66 Rally, ninety participants raised over $3,000 for the Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Teams started in both Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA, and spent three days traveling down historic Route 66. Each day was filled with epic scenery and three checkpoints. Some 2,000 miles later, the east coast teams met the west coast teams in Amarillo, TX for a grand finale celebration and party. Awards were given out, sponsors thanked, and good times were had.

Rally North America is fortunate to benefit from the professional film work of TJ Fry and The MOB Theory, who continue to document these road rallies. There are also a vast amount of large-scale sponsors who help contribute to Rally North America’s road rallies including CJ Pony Parts, and CarDomain.com.
RNA is back at it again this July of 2011 with another exciting rally, open to all car enthusiasts. Get ready to drive through the mountains and along the coast, as we ramble on through the 2011 Rally Appalachia! All makes and models of vehicles are welcome on this exclusive VIP scavenger-hunt event. As of now, we have fifty two cars/teams signed up for next summer’s rally. We are capping entries to 80 cars/teams; which means you can still sign up! As of November 18, 2010 we still have 28 open spots for the 2011 Rally Appalachia.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund has been chosen for this year’s Rally North America charity benefactor.
http://www.fallenheroesfund.org/

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a national leader in supporting the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families, has provided over $120 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. The Fund most recently opened the National Intrepid Center of Excellence to support the research, diagnosis, and treatment of military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury.

this looks like it would be crazy fun... the question is, do I want to subject my M3 to this abuse? How many miles approx. is this run? What exactly are we doing? cruising or is this some sort of race? how do we deal with cops? I feel like I will go to jail if I go to this...

lol... dont mean to sound paranoid

also, what are the teams about? how are we put into teams? Is there going to be a M3post/Bimmerpost team?

All good questions...

Well, it will be no harder on your car than any other road trip. The actual rally is less than 1500 miles... Winchester va, natural bride va, greeneville sc, then onto charleston sc.

We do have track events but they are easy on the cars... We will be on the actual track at darlington....

We have two other m3's in the line up too.

Teams.... Basically the typical team is a driver and co-driver... Or navigator.

Ok the deal about the law... If you get arrested it's on you. We have rules in place that if you get caught excessively speeding, get a speeding ticket... Or arrive to the hotel before a set time you will be dq'd from winning anything at the end of rally party.

Keep the questions coming!!

Looks like funn!! so pretty much its a race that you stop before your reach the hotel and that is where you score who won the "stage" lol

then when the "time" comes up you go to the hotel and party.

Support our Charity
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund was established officially as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003. Through 2005, the Fund provided close to $20 million to families of United States military personnel lost in performance of their duty, mostly in service in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Fund provided unrestricted grants of $11,000 to each spouse and $5,000 to each dependent child. In addition, Board member E. Roe Stamps personally funded an additional $1,000 to parents of unmarried service members as an extension of that program. All payments were coordinated with the casualty offices of the Armed Forces, to ensure that all families received these benefits. In 2005 federal legislation substantially increased the benefits granted to these families. With the needs of these families now being supported much more substantially, the Fund turned to the next area of the military community needing help: our wounded warriors.

In January 2007 the Fund completed construction of the Center for the Intrepid, a $55 million world-class state-of-the-art physical rehabilitation center at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This Center serves military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and veterans severely injured in other operations and in the normal performance of their duty. The 60,000 square foot Center provides ample space and facilities for the rehabilitation needs of the patients and their caregivers. It includes state-of-the-art physical equipment and extensive indoor and outdoor facilities. The Center is co-located with two 21-room Fisher Houses that house the families of patients.

Itinerary - July 18th - 21st, 2011

Come out and see all the classic, muscle, and exotic cars of Rally Appalachia 2011 in a town near you!

Where can you find us? Read on my friends...

July 18th Winchester VA Pre-rally Drivers meeting.

To be held @ Quality Inn Winchester Virginia @ 7:30 PM

Then it's off to the Piccadilly's Brew Pub & Restaurant for a Pre-Rally Meal

July 19th ~ DAY 1

Starting line 8:00 AM

Old Town Winchester with its open air mall and historic commercial district lined with 18th and 19th century buildings will provide us with a historic & scenic back drop from which to launch from. The Old Town Winchester is one of the oldest standing towns west of the Appalachia Mountains.

This leg will have no less then 8 Check Points near or along Skyline Drive Virginia.

Shenandoah Speedway features a 3/8 mile track with compound banking of 12, 10, 8, and 6 degrees in turns 60 feet wide. Straights are 375 feet long with 6 degrees of banking.

Sanctioning Bodies: INEX, MMRA, VMCRA, ...and SVSRL

The finish line for the day one is the Natural Bridge Virginia Hotel and Convention center.

http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/

We ask that teams be available (optional) in the lobby of the Hotel on the 19th at 6:00 PM for Police escorted drive into Lexington VA. (12 miles north) Lexington is planning to promote our arrival so expect several hundred people to welcome us into town and we will have reserved parking once we arrive in town.

There are several restaurant/bars located in the downtown area. I know the people of this area and believe we should receive one hell of a welcome. For those that want to stay at the hotel they have a full service restaurant/bar The Fox Tavern. (which is where you will find me after the drive back from Lexington)

July 20th ~ DAY 2

8:00 AM Cars will be lined up as we roll out of Natural Bridge, VA.

Motor Mile Dragway quickest reaction time Challenge.

Make Sure your Navigator is on their "A Game" as this leg promises to be their biggest challenge of the trip. We will be hitting Blue Ridge Parkway.

On our way to Hooters Restaurant Greenville, South Carolina!

Some check points will require walking/running (if you feel you need to run) in order to reach them. Additionally we will be entering two National Parks (read: take it easy in the parks) and there will be entry fees for one parks (total cost being roughly $20 total for a team of two).

July 21st ~ Day 3

8:00 AM Depart from The Clarion Inn

On to the Track "Too Tough to Tame" Darlington Raceway for a couple of laps on the World famous race track.

There will be a few interesting check points tossed in on our way to our final check point the Marriott in Charleston, SC.

That evening we have reserved the top two floors of the Southend Brewery in the historic district of Charleston for an end-of-rally-party with live entertainment

There are the highlights of what promises to be the not-to-be-missed Rally of 2011. We have a few surprises tossed in as well, but they are to be discovered by those brave enough to tag along!

I would love to come... Just so many things are working against me. My co-pilot is out of the country, so I dont have any one else I really trust that much to come along with me. Second, my car is still being modded by MAC, and I have no intentions of rushing them. last, police aint no joke, charitable cause or not lol. However, if there is a bimmerpost clip heading up, I just may re-consider. Im waiting to see if anyone is jumping in this from the forums.

In some events yes it's all speed. We had some minor issues last year with speed so.....

We changed it up this year. Speed won't win. Navigation will. So you can have the fastest car on the planet but without a good navi... Your losin.

If you get caught speeding... Your dq'd from winning anything

We are a charity rally... We want people to have fun... Without killing anyone.

We have 4 spots left just picked up 05 Z06.
