Jobs after college that had nothing to do with your major.

I'm curious as to how many people have a degree in X but do a job that has nothing to do with it? If so, what?

Depends on the major, ones like Psych and Communications usually doesn't get you in the field you want because they are so easy to obtain. Unless of course you get a masters or P.h.d. More specialized degrees like engineering will have people sticking to that as a career, but not always.

Bottom line, if the degree is easy, lots of people will be competition for the job because it was easy for them to get too.

What's with all these sentimental, education threads lately? I want more silly videos and pictures, and less of this serious talk.

They don't always require a degree for the job because of what you learn, sometimes it's just because they know college is hard and you stuck it out.

BSc in Computer Science

Joined a company to work as their website developer.... Website is part of marketing department.

Whole marketing department was fired within a month of me being there... Ended up running marketing by myself for 3+ years.

Then moved to an Ad Agency. Worked there for 3+ years. Now started my own Ad Agency....

Long story short....

BSc Computer Science ---> Advertising...

Computer Science -> Shipping

most people I know aren't in their field of studies except for specialized people, and even then, I'd say 50% flake out to something else
