Blackberry Bold 9900

Looks like September. Full keyboard and touch screen with pinch/zoom. 8GB memory, 1.2GHz processing. Hopefully will not disappoint. Am I alone in still preferring Blackberry's OS or anyone else waiting for this to finally come out?

Aside from the fact that a touchscreen is not new to BB, I still greatly prefer the way Blackberry makes calls/texts/emails/messages etc to any other phone OS. I know I'm the minority, but I don't need a phone to play games on or surf the internet. I need it to be reliable and have a battery life that lasts longer than 5hrs with wifi enabled. The few apps I do use work just as well on my BB as they do my droid.

Yea, just a size comparison to put it in perspective. I personally find the iPhone 4 a little diminutive but I don't have small hands either

But your Blackberry *DOES* play games and surf the internet, but in really really crippled way.

I've used blackberry exclusively starting with 5810 and up until the 8830 (for about 7 years and 8 or 9 different models). I dont miss a single thing about it. To me, it is sub-par in *anything* it does.

At least the 9900 will probably be able to make and receive calls reliably. I had the first three iterations of the iPhone and all had issues with calls, whether it was dropping the calls or problems getting signal or whatever. So I skipped out on the iPhone4. Glad I did. Was visitng the parents last weekend and step-mom has an iPhone4, turns out they have a nasty habit of the mic going bad, leaving her with the inability to use the phone for calls unless she's on speakerphone (different mic or something). Common problem too.

Once the iPhone can reliably make and receive calls without being a total pain in the ass, I will say "welcome to ten fucking years ago".

Agreed, but I don't need it to. I use my desktop or laptop to surf the internet. I use my phone to communicate.

I agree that the Iphone and Droid is a better OS for many things, though making calls and sending emails is are not among them, not even close. Both phones, sitting right next to each other, I consistently have a better signal (about 2 bars or so) on my Blackberry. It organizes everything in a much more productive manner than either competitor. Hate all you want, but for how I use my phones, the Iphone and Droids leave much more to be desired than my trusty BB.

I'm really bummed our company went with HTC Droids over the Motorola I recommended. The thing is no better than an Iphone IMO, except you can replace the battery.

yeah... i cant stand the htc's.... they are even worse than the iPhone. Im just a little disapointed that motorola's new droid still doesnt have 4g... like what the fuck mannn!?

but once it does, its back to full iPhone killer status

You're on the wrong network. I've used 4/5 iPhones since they first came out and haven't had an issue with dropped calls/reception. On T-Mobile btw. Yes, if 3G is important to you, move along...I've got wifi in 90%+ of my natural habitat and save a ton of money.

At most, I'm at 1 bar if I'm on 4g. Seems like as soon as I start to do anything though, this goes away and I'm back on the normal network. Drops probably 2/5 calls. Unless connected to wi-fi, it takes about 10min to email a picture which my BB will send in under a minute. YMMV, but I'm not impressed. Google apps do work very will with it, however, but given the reception problems...not really...

Definitely a larger issue than this. I've had one of each all on the same network. BB signal and call reliability has been far superior to iphone/droid

damn im sorry to hear that... I never have had a dropped call to date. Im on that verizon network, and even with my 3G im always happy. ive never turned on the wifi feature on my phone because the 3G is always at maximum signal and works like a fucking beast on my moto droid x. I only stand behind this phone tho. anything else, is Sony Xperia Series.

I've had BB for years and I'm leaving them for IP4GS/5 whatever it will be. I can list MANY things wrong with BB.

Typical Blackberry quality. RIM is a dying company.

Had a few BBs in the past, I will never go back to them... Purchased a Samsung Droid Charge -- very nice phone, 4G, awesome display, fast...
