I did not think it was that big at first even with the close up, the ladder put it into perspective that is for sure.
I think he needed a bigger container that is where he failed, |

This is how it goes down in Australia, spiders everywhere.
My backyard just get colonized by black house spiders which thankfully have forced the red backs out. These are our creatures: http://www.termite.com.au/Spider%20Chart.pdf

Back in 95-96 I had a job in South Africa and had to occassionally travel there. They had these things they called baboon spiders and kid you not they were almost as big as your hand. When the busses would go by the not so urban areas and hit tree branches they would fall out and the locals would club them and keep them to eat, kind of like a crab. Was pretty scary watching these things run around.
