Dog Mange/Mites Help

Has anyone on here had experience in treating their puppies/dogs mange/mite problem? I have a 4 month old Staffy and he started losing hair on parts of his head a month ago. First it was a small patch on the top of his head, then around his eyes, now his nose and cheek.. he didn't itch them until yesterday..

The vet said it is due to mites and that it should go away on its own. Can anyone here shed some light? I did a bit of research and it can be attributed to a weakened immune system, stress, and lack of exercise... I was kind of hoping it would go away on its own but its getting worse. Any advice on treatment / prevention would be appreciated..

Here's some pics:

Thanks,

Find a new Vet...

beautiful pup like that deserves a better answer than, "it should go away on its own".

my current dog had mange and it was a pain in the ass. She lost every hair on her body and was covered in those mites. We had a prescription shampoo that the vet gave us along with a couple different lotions. It eventually does go away but it can return. She had the first episode, lost all her hair, then was good for about 6 months and started growing the hair back, and then she got it again and lost everything. There's small parts on her now that will never grow the hair back.

I would definitely go see another vet.

Some things get worse before they get better. That could be the case

Did they do a skin scrapping? What type of mange was it. Without this info, an accurate answer cannot be given.

What O-cha said.

My Staffy had mange as well and it was treated with a pill and topical cream IIRC. You really need to find a new vet because leaving this untreated is the worst thing you can do. They didn't even do a skin scraping!? That's borderline negligence.
