Snowy weather, Evo driver makes his way thru crazy snow accident on freeway

I got anxious when I watched that video.... Anyone who has ever driven in the snow knows, that is your worst nightmare.

I felt like he was going a bit fast for the conditions and if he was going slower he might have been able to down shift. Regardless atleast he wasn't an idiot and just stopped on the highway.

Seems like his reaction time was really slow. He should have been working on that a second or two ahead of when he did. Still, that's a decent piece of driving.

And, he was WAY too fast for that condition. I used to feel invincible in my S4 with snows, so I know how this happens, but its no excuse. At least he didn't make the situation worse.

Wonder of that big rig took anybody out on his way past the EVO. And yes the EVO was definitely going too fast.

If people are going to stop like that why aren't they pulled to the side of the road??? Or even have their hazards on??? WTF is wrong with those idiots...

this is a huge thing for me, people need to learn to use their hazards.....

I also hate driving in the States when most cars don't have day running lights. I really dislike them, but they do work! At least turn low beams on for motorway driving, especially in conditions like that.

If people were using their low beams or hazards, a lot of those cars would have been more visible.

And before anyone says anything about my low beam comment. Low beams turn on tail lights....

When confronted with a wall of cars, he opted to drive around it. Doesn't seem so extraordinary to me. It's more instinct than anything. He then drives between a bunch of cars which a 16yr old could probably do in the same manner.

What I learned at anti skid courses/advandced driving schools/experience/drifting that the instinct of most people driving is:

To look/steer where they are HEADING at that moment. Thus causing a crash etc.in this example.

I learned----> The way is to look/steer WHERE you WANT to go. That's what the EVO driver did....so imo it's instinct alright, but from experience.

Yeah I am gonna have to agree with the idea that he did the right thing. He was going no faster than anyone else on the road with him. Not to mention he was completely blocked and found one of the only "gaps" in the wreck. I have been in similar situations that have led to me ending up on the shoulder unscathed with crashing cars all around me.. Keep your cool and definitely look where you want to go not where you are currently going.

I definitely think they were traveling too fast for the conditions. The general rule is if a static object comes into view, you should have enough time to come to a stop if you don't have a valid escape route available. In this kind of weather, that dictates you go slow as hell. I've been in plenty of white outs with slippery roads, and they were just traveling faster than conditions allowed.

That being said, I believe most states require your headlights to be on while conditions require the use of wipers. I know at least in this state it's a law. So anyone without their headlights on in the rain or snow is not only a dumbass, but in violation of the law. I don't know about other states, although I would be surprised at any who don't follow this logic.

Let see, he bitches that people stop on the highway in a snow storm, but he is driving way too fast in the first place, he was lucky he has AWD, if he did not, his attempt to drive around all the stop cars would have been a failure. He also has no clue what black ice is, they were sliding on snow, not black ice.

Finally, if you see the truck pass him, think about all the cars it took out in the process that include that Ford Flex and the vans in the road.

I have been in similar situations in my 335 and its really fucking scary not having 50%+ control of the car.

Driving in snow is one of my favorite things to do. Ice is terrible but snow is quite fun.
