As a track toy or something that is useful for roadtrips and daily use as well?
The Elise is an incredible road track machine, but almost a joke for anything else. If this is just a part time car and you have other vehicles you can use for daily trips the Elise might work. I wanted one but this (mis)feature of the car led me to walk away and buy something else.

Porsche Cayenne= Nice yet practical machine
Lotus= Amazingly fun, yet horribly useless machine Not to mention, your chances of dying in a dinky Lotus is probably 100x greater than in a Porsche SUV...

I'd pick Cayman, so much more practical and luxurious with 80% of the handling of the Elise!

They are honestly pretty much two different cars. Unless this car is going to be strictly a weekend car, i suggest you not get the Elise. It is very impractical and uncomfortable. 95% of people out their would HATE to drive this car everyday. There are soo many quirks to that car you have to learn and get used to (i.e. if you wash the car on a slope, make sure the front of the car is facing the bottom of the slope or you'll flood the car, the inability to parallel park your car because if someone even slightly taps your car, your clamshell will crack and thats already a few thousand in repairs, etc).
With all that being said, i'd personally get an elise. The harsh ride, useless horn, no cupholders, small trunk space, is what makes an elise a elise. |

Niether, new M coupe for the win! The elise is such a weak car, the exige s is a bit better. Both have a gorgeous looking rear with the most pussy looking bug eyed front end with ugly side mirrors. Cayman for sure, but in that class id deff. pick the new M coupe!

If I had enough money for a decent second car to use as a daily driver I would get the Lotus. But otherwise I would get the Porsche.
