I saw a new Altima Coupe on the Road

It looks pretty good, but it had the 3.5L 270 HP, which I believe is also in the G35. I personally don't get this plan, I mean the altima coupe will definitely cannabilize the sales of the G coupe would it not? Even if the G37 came out, the HP difference is only about 30 HP, so I think more people would be inclined to purchase the altima coupe and save thousands than the G37. Discuss E90post members.

saw the ad for the altima yestr and I wonder who is going to buy a $30k altima... I mean it is still an altima while you can get a 328 for a little bit more (by doing an ED). It might not have 270hp, but is so much better... if one is only after hp then mustang would be the right car.

Come on guys, I have an openmind on other vehicles on the road. The altima coupe doesn't look that bad. At first I thought the guy who was driving changed the original clear yellow altima sedan backlights to all red, but on closer inspection I realized that it was the two version of the new altima.

I do have an open mind, just being an ass is so much fun.
Having the same engine isn't going to make a difference, there's much more to a car then the motor, unless you're buying a sports/performance car. You're getting things in the G in a different way then in the Nissan.

If HP and the engine was such a big deal, BMW would sell more 330's than 325's or 335's then 328's.

just a few facts...

G35 is rear wheel drive
altima coupe is front wheel

engine in the g35 is more powerful 298 vs 270 hp.. torque i dunno.

looks yes it does resemble the g35 *sigh* and if the g looks great i understand why nissan would mimic it in the altima (their best selling car)

the new g35 sedan has a more powerful engine then the altima coupe
the new g37 has a much more powerful engine then the altima coupe.

now all that being said... the altima coupe may weigh less (which is a plus)
but it'll still be FWD. me personally i prefer FWD... i cant drive RWD to save my life... but im learning.

will it steal sales from the G coupe line... maybe 1 or 2... but not many. its a different beast... just like the 1 series is to bimmers.

I like Altima's, and if I were in the Market for a Japanese sporty coupe thing, I'd be shopping the Altima against the Mazda 6 probably.

"It's no surprise that following such smashing success, not to mention BMW's recent introduction of the twin-turbocharged, 300-horsepower E92 335i coupe, Infiniti would roll out a fresh two-door of its own, aiming to keep that hot streak hot and BMW on ice." - motortrend

its kinda funny how other car companies always feel the need to compare themselves to bmw

I like the altima sedan better...I saw the coupe a couple of days ago in the showroom when looking at a V8 pathfinder to replace my V6.

Its not that funny. BMW has been considered the benchmark for the market segment for the past 10+ yrs. Obviously they are going to make BMW the comparison target. Who tries to aim for second?

the new g37 is gonna have 330hp not 300. so a 60hp difference is quite significant in the eyes of the buyer who is looker for a fast luxury car.
