The route of its personality is generated from AMG's 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine that generates 630 PS (463 kW / 621 hp) whilst peak torque is electronically limited to 1000Nm (737 lb-ft). It is paired with the new AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission.

The new SL 65 AMG features what is described as an intelligent lightweight construction that has knocked 170kg off the kerb weight and a similar theme is adopted on the upgraded AMG sports suspension. Mercedes has also highlighted the new electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering which adjusts in line with the suspension mode.

The new model is well capable of beating its predecessor if performance figures are to be believed. It accelerates from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in 4 seconds until hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kph (155mph). Fuel economy figures have also been shaved by 17% with 11.6 liters now required to travel 100km.

The new 2013 Mercedes SL 65 AMG will launch in the German market in September with prices starting at 236,334 euros.

I like the fact it has more power/less weight/better consumption and that interior is nice, but that's all I like. LED fogs and headlights still look stupid.

A touch of LED is nice, but seemed like Mercedes had a great deal from the LED manufacturer to buy a big bulk...

Its a bit overwhelmed...

Im not a fan of the headlights. The last model had much better looking ones. Still a beast.

The Interior looks much better than the outgoing SL - arguably one of the best interiors in the current Benz line up. Exterior....I don't know - its not stunning perhaps better in person

I just noticed they bit (<copied) Porsche with a "Sport Chrono" styled clock on top of dash pod.....Mercedes, Mercedes, Merdedes,

Performance - cmon' now 738 ft/lbs of diesel locomotive torque - the only thing that can be said is "damn"

The question is are the lower LED's actually fog lamps? For the most part on MBZ's in the States they are usually DRL's - no?

I can't really say anything because my 6 has OEM LED fogs - they are effective IMHO

I do understand however, that folks these days are maxing out their PepBoys cards with LED purchases. I saw a guy the other day in a 2nd gen Acura TL with his "entire" (pillars/headliner etc) interior lit up with LED's - I'm not talking ambient light - try stadium Illumination. The funniest ish I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a pic with the BB

^ LOL. That's a good point though, are these fogs? I'll hate them even more if they are just DRLs. The main problem I have is the size of them. Look at the first pic; they make the intakes look small.

Wow really an improvement. Glad they got rid of the slow shifting 5 speed auto for the 7 speed AMG speedshift. Too bad the Black Series is stuck with the horrid 5 speed

Beautiful car inside and out.

Those headlights are still slightly f*cked up but that will change very soon. This generation still has many years of evolution and I'm certain that it will come along wonderfully.

Always have been a fan on AMG, especially the SL-class.

Was at Geneva and the SL63 looks butt fucking ugly. If only this new one had the old SL exterior with the new interior and all the updates, I'd love it in a heartbeat, but alas, it is not to be lol.

2 other problems I have:

- shape of the boot spoiler curving round the car and the way it meets those ugly shaped rear lights. This may be 2 problems lol. From the rear it looks fine but look at pic number 7. Just weird shapes going on there.

- shape of the gear lever. Although this is just a minor complaint.

I can't stand the headlights on this thing. If they changed it up and made more sleek or aggressive, the car would look so much better.

Actually, this is starting to grow on me.

In the blue, I find myself thinking that it isn't that bad. And when looking at the body lines, I'm starting to like it.

Funny how people are saying they hate this car, yet, in the same breath express their affinity for the previous generation.

The only thing that has changed are the head lights and the LEDs beneath the head lights. Everything else is very similar to the previous generation.

The eyes are too distracting. Would you date a regular super model or a crossed eyed one given the opportunity

What? Look again and see how big of a difference the headlight makes and how it changes how the front looks. Hoods has different lines, bumpers are almost completely different, side panels has different vents, even side mirrors placements aren't the same. Rear taillight are similar in shape but still not exactly the same, exhaust tips are now squared off while the last gen had round tips.
