335i vs. Z4 M?

Can my 335i (STOCK) step with dtc inactive with 1300 RPM running (off the line) in the start beat a Z4 M stick. the Z4 M is a newbie stick driver.

also what about if i had a Turbo Tuner? PROceed?

from a stop it's a driver's race, depending on how fast you want to end your race at.

the z4m is the quicker car stock for stock, so even if you beat him initially with a better launch, he'll reel you in at one point and walk you.

if you guys go from 40mph roll the z4m will win.

this is assuming the z4m guy can shift....if he can launch he'll beat you everywhere.

These are one of the few moments you can use the Steptronic to your advantage. It will be close, still.

There is a video on youtube with a Z4 M and a 335i stock I think. In the video the M wins but if you had Procede/Xede I think you could take him.

Its a driver's race. Practice launching the car and you will beat him. Most drivers have crap RT and don't know how to rev the car to get a good launch. Those things can easily cost a few tenths.

Now With a PROcede, you would murder him.

with the steptronic you just mash the pedal thats how you beat a manual transmission driver in a z4M - also shaking his hand with some grease before the race might help, assuming he doesn't notice...heh

i had a run with an s52 m coupe last night. i had just installed my PROcede a couple hours earlier. we both had 6MT. At launch i jumped ahead quick, but shifting in to second my shift knob came right off. He now jumped ahead, but i put the car back in gear and caught him rather quickly. Stock however will come down to who gets a better launch. Later on i'm gonna do a few runs with an E46 M3 with cabonio intake, cat back super sprint, discovery auto software, SSK and a couple other little things. I'm assuming these will be very close whereas i am still on RFTs. I drove this car last week and it's pretty damn quick. I'll try to get some vids

The Z4M shares the 3.2L engine with the E46 M3.

Stock for Stock, the Z4 M will win. It weights 400 lbs less than the 335.

If you have the PROcede, you should have no problem beating him.

+1, especially if your opponent is a newbie MT driver.

If he really knew what he was doing...a 2nd gear launch can get the Z4M to 60 in close to 4.0s. If you had procede it would be alot closer but stock for stock you'll lose unless he's a complete tool.

Depends on the driver - especially his on level of experience launching the Z4M. Requires practice.

IMHO I could outdo a stock step 335i in my stock Z4MR. Technique is: DSC OFF, Sport Mode ON, RPMs at 2K. At launch, release clutch smoothly but rapidly, and nail it (this is the make or break part). Shift at about 6K. Look for 335i in sideview mirror.

That said, can't wait for wife to take delivery of her 335i 6MT.

That was Walked U and his buddies in a Porsche 996TT, a modded Audi S4, 2 Stage 3 M3's, a stock GTO, and a Z4M with a CAI....and yes, Walked U in his PROcede 335i (with exhaust) totally walked the Z4M and stock GTO for that matter.
