Better to buy expensive clothes that fit right than look like you're wearing Jabba the Hutt's t-shirt...

How much would I pay for quality? The most expensive shirt I own is a $1,500 shirt from Louis Vuitton. I don't know what that goes for quality, but it's definitely more than any pants I own.

Age: I have no age.

Personally, I think paying over $70 for a shirt and over $100 for pants is ridiculous but to each their own.

Haha, yes. I have many friends like this. Not that there is anything wrong with it. They drive extremely expensive cars, but can't fathom of spending $100+ on shirts/pants.

There are many factors that come into play such as the construction of the clothe, ie hand stitching vs machine stitching, and sourcing of the fabrics.

Brands like Hugo Boss, Burberry, etc. are making a killing. Their quality isn't all that great for the prices. They spend a lot on marketing, which means less on quality.

I truly appreciate the input, fellas. I became interested in fine men's wear in the recent years so we will see where this leads.

I would appreciate more surveys as well!

Yes, I'm talking about everyday clothes.

I have a theme I'm going for, but I won't state that at the moment.

I didn't include jeans because I have no resources to get superlative denim. I'm also not the biggest jean lover out there. I only own one pair, and it's just from APC, which is middle tier at best. Chinos are good jeans alternative as they are not made from delicate materials like slacks or dress trousers would, and can still be dressed up with a jacket.

As far as pants go, any pair of pants can be made to fit you better. Most guys don't really care about dressing up so this is unknown to them so they just buy brand name stuff for the sake of it. A good tailor will be able to taper the legs, take in the crotch, rear, and/or seat to make the pants look flattering to your physique.

Only buy the good stuff for special occasions. Neiman Marcus, Benneton, MetroPark. But those days are far and few since I work 7 days a week and for those 7 days I wear the cheap stuff like jeans from levis, AE(i'm short) and plain white T's Hanes vneck.

Rarely do those 2 correlate, go to an exotic car show and you will see what I am talking about.

no favorite brands, whatever feels best

just to clarify, shirts and tshirts i wear anything from 40 to 200 dollars

for pants is usually over 150 easy because i can't find any cheaper. Its either jeans for casual (preferably diesel) or a suit for work so my options are limited, no khakis or whatever other pants. jeans or suit.

I know, bro. I have a friend with an F430 and he's in K-Swiss. He's the one making fun of me for dropping $$ for luxury sneakers.

Both are as equally as expensive though. A car hobbyist chooses a set of $4,000 wheels. A style enthusiast uses the money for 4-5 pairs of shoes.

It's not really anything new. It's typical men's wear stuff. Things that looked good 50 years ago, and will continue to look good. None of the trends that go out every several years.

Back in college, I had some people who told me they thought I was a douche because they saw the BMW key fob, the True Religion/Rock & Republic jeans combo, haha.

In college, you don't need much. Most of your classmates will show up in a white t shirt, basketball shorts, and maybe a fitted hat.

Most kids just bum it in college, man.

For everyday wear I mostly hit up J Crew but I spend a little more on jeans and go for Diesel. I love Ralph Lauren polos but can't wear them because I hate that fucking extended length back to prevent it from coming untucked because I never tuck it in so I opt for Lacoste polos with the small logo that's the same color as the shirt.

1. Your age is:
A. 15-20

2. How much would you spend on a quality shirt (think sport shirt or shirt with a collar)?:

C. $75-100

3. How much would you spend on a quality pair of pants (specifically chinos)?:
C. $105-150 - usually for sports pants (like for a sports jacet/etc)
D. $155+ - quality pants, even for every day. I have jeans that are in the category, etc

What are your favorite brands of clothes? Where do you shop?

Saks, 7, True Religion, Rock & Republic for every day stuff. (Usually go to the outlets too). Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss, Nordstrom/Bloomingdales for nicer clothes.

Obviously as indicated, I'm young, and many of my purchases are financed by my parents. So 'flame suit on'. I usually shop outlets though, and my parents want me to look nice and make an impression, they aren't going to be supporting me forever obviously.

I pick the most expensive on all choices cause I want you all to think im a fucking boss

On topic: you pay for what you get, to some extent. I think a quality pair of shoes that can be re-souled are worth the investment.
