Drink Coca Cola, Die, consider suing

A woman in New Zealand drank ~2 gallons of Coca Cola a day, smoked on top of that (~approx 30 a day), and rarely ate any food or other nutrients. She died of a heart attack.

Family is considering suing Coca Cola.

2 gallons is a lot! You can probably die from drinking that much water a day if you don't eat. Then sue the city for getting water to your house?

I see your point. However, in the McDs case, there is a lot more to the story than it seems.

All we know is the sound bite of the lady suing McDs over something trivial. But upon further investigation there was misconduct and several burn victims and complaints filed against McDs for scalding hot coffee in excess of over 150 degrees or so.

The lady had serious 3rd degree burns and that was the last straw.

She initially wanted only her medical bills compensated for by McDs, but McDs decided to play hard ball and lost. They ended up paying out even more.

If you are still skeptical, you can research or wiki Liebeck vs McDonalds.

I was gonna say the same thing. McDonalds offered to pay her something ridiculous like $700 i think. Glad she sued them

Just FYI, but the McDonalds coffee thing was successfully appealed by McDonalds and she had to give most of the money back. NVM she still got over half a million, I hate our INjustice system.

This happened in NZ remember, this will get thrown out of court quicker than she could drink a 2 litre bottle of coke, NZ courts don't waste time with frivolous crap like this. She should have lived and died in the US, I'm sure if this had happened in the US her family probably would have filed a suit and cleaned up.
