So I was driving home last night across the San Rafael bridge in my 335 and I come up on a Z4 going slow in the left lane. He was behind a truck and a really slow cab I guess. There was an opening in the right lane so I switched lanes and passed him, thinking nothing of it. After the bridge i'm cruising along doing 80 and I see the same Z4 speeding up in my rearview. At this point i'm in the right lane. So I just let him pass no biggie, but as we approach an interchange to the 80 his lane slows down so I pass in my lane onto the other freeway. Next thing I see him fly past in the left lane and I realize this guy wants to race or is challenging me for some reason. He gets quite abit ahead of me in the left lane, I'm in the 2nd to right lane minding my own business as the traffic is congested. I get an opening and punch it- and I pass the Z4 like he was parked. I guess this pisses him off and he starts weaving thru traffic to get past me. He passes me again, this time i'm in the lane next to him because I have to exit the freeway on the left. When i get next to him I look over to see who this knucklehead is and the guy looks at me and is lauging! I"m like WTF you're an idiot and punch it again, exiting to another freeway and he either didn't exit or realized it was fruitless. It's experiences like this that make me embarrassed to drive a BMW, so many posers who don't know how to drive feel superior when they get these cars and drive like a**holes it's really annoying. If you're reading this board, you know who you are :mad:

+11ty Theres a difference between street racing, and playing around. Maybe he was bored at all the civics that wanted to play with him and when he saw another roundel he got excited. I dont care if Im in a 318ti and youre in an M6, theres an immediate bond and if youre willing to play, Im game.

To the OP, I dont think he was truly trying to race you. He was just trying to have fun. If he was laughing, it was probably because you were making faces as to how someone would think they would beat you in your faster-than-anyone-elses bimmer.

Sometimes, when I come across a fast ass car (like the M6) that wants to play around I join in, I just enjoy watching what these monsters can do and have nothing but respect for them.

it does sound like a bit of fun, I was being picked on the other day by a newer 911 turbo... Hell I know I am no match, but he started it. When we were done he gave a wave out the sunroof and was off like a shot... Good Stuff!

Happens a lot on the bikes too... Keeping it within reason it's good fun.

you got it all wrong- I was saying that I had no intention of racing, but this guy was swerving in and out of traffic trying to prove something to me. Why he wasn't just going his own pace to start with i have no idea, but I'm just minding my own business. when he starts to weave in and out of traffic to try and get in front of me, I've got a problem with it. You guys have an inferiority complex about the 335 if you think that's why i'm bothered by it. And yes, trying to race a 335 with an underpowered Miata imitation i think is stupid. Sorry, there is no moral here, just venting about bad drivers. I never once mentioned that i've got way more horsepower than him, I merely was trying to maintain a constant 80mph, he was the one trying to make it a race. when you start to endanger me and other drivers with your 'fun', yeah, i've got a problem with that..

what, why would i need an Escalade...I don't race on crowded freeways unlike you guys, so maybe i'm not an 'enthusiast' in your mind. If i'm going to have a little fun i do it where other people aren't involved like in the canyons where a little more skill is involved.
