Do you need to learn how to pick up girls through books and forums?

I was at work and got into this really funny debate/discussion where one of my colleague insist that the only way someone can learn how to communicate with women and get them to sleep with you is to learn it from books and joining this so call "pickup artist" group forums....I don't know...its not for me and this seem like something intuitive...well sorta like something you don't have to go by the book. Who read books that teaches them how to pickup girls and follow it step by step? Who admires those clueless writers who writes about common sense stuff like this?

Yeah...totally agree with the "Help" thing..but my colleague is treating this as a "Must Do"...or else you can't do it....something along that line where he put it as "If you're not reading these, there's no way you can do it, no way you will know how women feel, no way of knowing how to talk to them..you should get your life back and read these". Just curious if this is really common practice nowadays.

i dont have any game but id never read books on it to get it. its a learning process. u go out and try and talkto them, get rejected and learn what to do and not to do. its easy. ive gotten better over the last few weeks. if u read about it then ur not really being u and ull be pissed as shit when it doesnt work.

I think a person can get some abstract understanding of how women can be picked up by understanding psychology. But of course there is a big difference between principles and actual practice (picture a virgin with a sex manual). Books don't impart common sense or the type of natural feeling and sense of the moment required.
