It's real... the M5 and 6 are available in 6-spd manual in the states... I believe it started with MY07 if not MY07.5...

There is a 6-speed M6 on the lot of a dealer around here. The website lists the sticker price so I think he'll sell it for list, not sure though.

As others have mentioned the 6-speed M6 and M5 are supposed to be really disappointing to drive. It's a shame since one thing that puts me off the M5 is the complexity of iDrive combined with SMG combined with so many different settings for power, shift speed, ride, etc. I just want a car that's set up right by the factory, not by me!

I have driven a good amount of miles in both cars stick and smg, I have also sold several smg cars to people that love them and drive into NY city in them although mostly m3's.
After I drove the M6 in stick I will never sell another smg. 7 gears is to much shifting not enough time with your foot flat to the floor. The stick with 6 gears is much much more fun to drive, and I have a M5 and an M6 coupe in stick on the showroom floor if anyone is interested. |
