Enjoy a good beverage?

Just out of curiosity i want to know do you consider having a drink at night a bad thing? I have a low stress job, a good relationship, make good money ect. but i still like to come home, have a few beers and relax.

i enjoy weightlifting, and a drink every day would ruin my workout. so, i rarely drink. not that i don't enjoy a cold beer, its just that i find myself not having anything to drink for weeks at a time.

OP, I normally drink a Delirium Tremens. By far my favorite beer. You can find it at World of Beer or Total Wine. Other than that it's pretty hard to come by.

EDIT: Oh, and that's not every night. Maybe once a week.

Nothing wrong with a drink or two with dinner. I don't do it a lot, but I don't think it's bad. Sometimes depending on the meal I'll have a beer or a glass of wine, but I usually only do that once a month or so.

What's bad is when you go out to eat shitty food every night and have three or four tall 24oz mugs of beer and can't drive home. I know a few people who have that problem...

A friend of mine, who I roomed with years ago, still to this day has the following routine:
1) come home from work - shaker of bombay sapphire martini w/pastene olives
2) prepare dinner - have a bottle of beer
3) with meal - appropriate wine to compliment food
4) after dinner - single malt scotch
5) followed by a smoke on non-worknights

Met him recently for dinner at a pub, he followed this regimen exactly. I substituted a 2nd beer for the wine in step 3, and also it was a worknight. It's like the heptathalon of after work drinking.

Used to, but found having a drink or sometimes two every night to be adding on the weight. Plus, when you add it up, that's about 14 drinks a week, which is getting close to alcoholism thresholds per week from what I've heard.

So now I only drink on weekends, unless I'm on vacation during the week.

If you live in Texas they can be found at any liquor store, and I've seen them in gas stations on multiple occasions. I guess it depends on where you live.

Oh and I think that beer is awesome as well.

I need to get back on this program, I would definitely drop some weight. The problem is, sitting around the house is boring and thats pretty much what you do when you have a 2 year old, so I crack a beer...and then another.

I dont drink on most days. Sometimes, rarely, I would come home and crack open a can or two and watch football but thats it. I only drink socially at events or at parties. I dont drink a lot or get wasted anymore.

LOL. Reminds me of a story years ago in the UK. A guy went in for his physical, doctor asked him if he had a drinking problem, he had put on some weight. Guy so no, no drinking problem. Doc asked what do you do daily after work. Response - go down to the in-house company pub (= cheap booze) and have a couple of pints with my colleagues. Doc asked what do you do when you get home. Ah, have me dinner and a couple of pints. Doc asked what do you do on the weekends. Response - well, naturally I go to the football match and have a bunch of beers with me mates. Doctor told him - you've got a severe drinking problem. Guy told us he didn't realize how much he drank until he started adding up all the beer he had daily/weekly. Definitely the case of the older you get, the more it affects your weight!!!

I can only imagine what his monthly booze budget must be.

Isn't drinking one glass of wine or one pint of beer a day supposedly considered healthy these days? I know I've seen reports on this before. I would hardly think that one glass a day would be considered a drinking problem.

I feel $ spent on alcohol is a waste.... mainly because there are few drinks i actually enjoy drinking. And I'm unable to make any specialty drinks...

Being in a social setting is different though

I would like to have a beer or two when I come home from work but it's just too late to drink a beer at 11pm at night. I still have 3 bottles of heineken from a 6 pack I brought home 3 months ago. I wonder if it's still good.
