Front alone looks good. But it does not fit with the overall boxy design of the E Class. There is no harmony at all. What was Mercedes thinking giving a very sharply designed sedan/wagon a very round and organic front. Total fail. But I guess most will not notice that difference.

these new headlights will probably suit the coupe/cabriolet more than the boxy sedan..

I love the current one, hope this one looks better in the metal

I agree with what others have said. I only recently started to appreciate current model so when I seen these pics I wasnt too impressed. I think the headlights came from a good idea but the execution wasnt so good. I think the units could have been shaped more like the CLS headlights instead (which look great). Also, execution of AMG sports grille is poor as it looks like an A/C class. Again, any AMG trim should be based on models like the CLS/CL which still look classy. The other problem is that the rounded features look weird on an overall angular design.

And yes, any radical change should have been on interior. I dont like the centre console much. 5er and A6 look better.

Nice taxi. At least they ditched the horrible kink leading to the rear fender. The styling of this and the new SL lead me to believe that the upcoming S Class is going to be truly ugly.

Looking forward to the AMG. I think these changes will work better with a more aggressive package.

Looks pretty dated and old fashioned. Like the above poster said, it's a very conservative style geared towards the 60+ crowd.

The tail lights are totally boring. Although I personally happen to think the BMW 5 series tail lights are the most beautiful in class, so I'm probably biased. Nothing really comes close.

The only Mercedes design I've really liked in the past is the previous SL design. The current SL looks like a total whale with an elongated, bulbous nose.

+1

I mean this is quite literally a taxi cab. This has always ruined the prestige of the E class (and lower classes) for me, imo, except for the AMG variants.

The front end looks good; however the tail-light reminds a lot of Honda/Hyundai. Interior also looks improved.

If you think about it the rear end of almost every modern midsize luxury car is derivative.

E class looks like an old Hyundai.
GS looks like a new Hyundai.
A6 looks like an A4 which looks like a Jetta.
F10 tails look like the old G35's.
Infinitis look like fish.

I'm gonna have to wait to see that front end in person. It looks out of place compared to the rest of the car's chiseled body.

You no doubt wish to be informed, that we have at home two +70 and both commented that the car is even worse than before; ugly, to cut it short
