Ford F150 FX4 + appearance pack OR Raptor OR Tundra 5.7L Rock Warrior
I know there are some of you guys who have beautiful M3's and also have a truck on the side to do light duty work for Parts Pick-up/Work commute Etc.
I'm digging into my options in getting a work truck for the facility I work in. I'm in the Trash industry so I'm mostly hauling parts, clients at times, and lots of driving on crappy roads that I just don't want to put my Cayenne up to anymore. I have a Black 5.7L Tundra Rock Warrior already at my other facility and the truck is great but it just feels "crappy." Crap interior, Crap ride, and Incredible power. The reason why I still even consider the Tundra is because it is the cheapest out of all the full size trucks in a crewmax cab + 5.7l V8 (but less options) engine and I've been a Toyota guy for the longest time (3 tundras, 1 tacoma, 1 camry, 1 corolla + more). At this point, I really am considering going with ford's 2013 Ecoboost F150 fx4 + appearance pack over the Tundra. The raptor is right up that alley in price point so I am considering that as well but the hummer h1 like gas mileage is keeping me away. The trucks will have to be Crewcab and have 4x4. Any one of you guys have experiences between the Tundra 5.7L and the newest F150's? Hows the Ecoboost and the brakes? What about the ride and any problems? Any reasons not to get either? Any thoughts please post. Curious to hear your experiences. Stephen

I would suggest watching these. This is only a couple of them but if you watch the rest i think that it will help make up your mind.

The EcoBoost is pretty awesome. (Coming from a guy who sells dodges for a living lol)
I haven't had much experience with the Toyotas. Why no Ram? The 2013 just got Truck of the Year. Has good mileage, coils for better load characteristics, optional air-ride suspension, best standard features, and they look amazing. 395HP too. |

Great Truck. What kind of gas mileage are you getting? Any gripes about it?

Thanks. Fuel mileage is not that great. Around town I'm getting 12.5-13mpg. Could be higher if you baby the trottle. On the highway, I'm getting 16.5mpg. I love this truck even with the gas mileage I get. Would I want it to use less fuel? sure, but I'm thoroughly happy with it overall. Just the other night we got a snow storm in NY and the temps were in the 20's. The roads were very bad with packed snow and ice. I had to go to the local train station to pick up my sister. The road to the train station is very windy like a race track(love driving the Z06 on it)Its only 10 min. away but it took me 1 hr to go and come back. It was rush hour and I had some cars infront of me driving at a crawl. Some were even stuck. This was the first time I drove the Raptor in the snow. I put it in 4HI and was off. This thing is a tank! Nothing shook it. It never slipped once unless I did it on purpose. Very confidence inspiring. I would buy a Raptor again and again. No doubt |

I start by saying I am a hard-core Ford fanatic, so my opinion is likely biased ...
My daily driver is my '10 FX4 F-150. I love this truck. I have a bunch of mods completed, like King Off-Road shocks, Nitto Trail Grappler tires, performance mods, etc. The new powertrains, including the Ecoboost V6, are excellent. There is a reason the F-series is the number one selling truck for the past 35 straight years! If you have the means, the Raptor's are bad-ass. I've driven various configurations extensively on-road and off-road (I used to work for Ford corporate) and the trucks are awesome. My only issue is that they have become really popular as a sort of "status symbol" with people whose idea of "off-roading" is mis-judging a turn at the supermarket and driving over a curb. |

I'd love a Raptor if the mileage wasn't atrocious. Frankly, with what the Ecoboost is capable of, I'd prefer that motor in the Raptor over the V8. The suspension is the real gem of that truck, not the engine.
I too am considering picking up a 12/13 F150 FX4 sometime in the next 6 months. |

For work, I'm not sure a Raptor would fit the bill. I just saw the thread with the guy who wanted to get an STI for work, and like the raptor it seems just a little too loud, and "hot wheels"-y to really fit in at a job environment. Don't get me wrong, it's an incredible truck, and I love it... but not for work. Really? With that mileage and stand-out look? I don't know, it just doesn't make the most sense to me to do that.
My girlfriend's brother has an FX4 with the base V8 and he loves it. The Ecoboost is faster, can tow more (with a similar axle ratio compared to the V8), and is better on gas. I've been in it, and it has a decent interior... maybe not the best materials everywhere, but it's well put-together, well-styled and doesn't feel cheap. Not familiar with the Tundra. However, I wasn't aware "Toyota Guys" existed outside of prius circles

My vote is raptor or ecoboost! I had an 11 5.7l tundra and the chassis was utter crap. I dented my cab with my bed on a freeway joint and ride was too choppy to put my kids in the back(vehicle was stock and no exaggeration). I fixed the issue by reversing the rear body mount and installing new rear leafs and 2.5 rear sway aways. And the power was too rev happy. No joke, my x5 35i towed better. And if price is of any concern you can not go wrong with the Titan. That is my favorite truck yet and it was actually fun to drive! Not to mention you'll get 10k off minimum
