R.I.P US liberties

Having just seen Obama give his speech regarding the band of semi auto's, as someone from Australia I can confirm its the beginning of the end to your right to bear arms. Same thing happened in Australia in 1996 and let me tell you it just gets more restrictive year after year until they fullfil their ultimate goal, that is to disarm the entire population.
I know where this is heading coz I've seen it, so be prepered to have a police state in the near future fellow conrads.

I'm pretty sure the Constitution made FDR's executive order 9066 illegal too. It doesn't matter to democrats.

No, which makes its all the worst for the US, the result is the same however, they will continue to erode gun laws bit by bit.

I doubt the result will be the same, since it will be much more difficult to overturn a constitutional amendment. I don't think I've heard any politcian or group talk about banning all guns or overturning any amendment.

The question should be asked are your elected leaders working for the interest of the American people or foreign interests? I travel to the US each year for business and I can say its a shadow of what I recall it was.

Here's the list:

Quote:

The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

11. Nominate an ATF director.

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.

23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

Notice what it at the bottom of the list, the real issue. My comments are in red. Notice they not going directly after the guns, they are going to achieve it in other ways, one way is to make it too costly to be in the gun business. Gun shops insurance will go through the roof if they can not follow all these new laws. Think about it, if s gun shop fail to do something perfectibility right and something bad happens again they will be held responsible. Like bars who server someone to much Beer and they get in an accident. Everything they are proposing is design to make cost prohibitive to run a gun shop, no gun shops no gun sales and trust me gun manufactures will not want to sell directly to the public and run the same risk.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system. So now they are going to allow your medical records to be release to anyone who wants to do a background check. So what conditions will the Government deem as not acceptable to have and own a gun. (What people do not know is as of 2014 in the HIPAA law all Dr are required to put your records in electronic form, they can still have paper copies but they have to be all electronic by the start of 2014, and this information will be stored by third parties not in your Dr office)

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system. Yes, the money, states will not get fed money for things like schools and law enforcement unless they do as the Fed say. It all comes down to money, only state which can afford to go without Fed money will resit

How does this solve any problem, the Shooter was well trained he even worn ear plugs so he was practice good gun safety, hell he even locked the guns in the trunk of the car.

Yeah stop telling kids and teacher to hid in the corner of the room making it easy for any shooter to pick them off.

These already exist, can not fix stupid people not doing the right things in the first place

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes. Excuse me, why does my doctor need to know this, so he will counselling on safe gun practice, oh way look at item 2, it is a backdoor to a gun register. Dr asks if you own gun, records it in your records and the next thing you know the government can search the database and know who has guns.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities. No longer Dr patient privilege communications, your Dr will be required to rat you out if you are depressed and a gun owner

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

Apparently this will cost $500 million dollars to enact, but that most of the funds will just be reallocated to fund it.

At the end of the day, this doesn't take away "assault weapons" or high capacity magazines. Only congress can do that.

I personally think banning high capacity magazines make sense, but not the AR style rifles themselves.

It makes as much sense as limiting gas tank size of a car, so you can't run from cops for too long.

Illegal car racing is also a problem. Lets ban spoilers and body kits.

I can't wait for the stories of overzealous doctors and nurses refusing to provide you with medical assistance because of their anti-gun stance.

Some of them already refuse procedures based on the religious views. Now they will start doing it just because you chose to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights.

What if a doctor decides that you should not own a gun because you are taking sleeping pills or have poor vision and will report you to whatever agency would be in charge of confiscating your guns based on medical conditions?
