Question Water Pump Survey - Died or Not? (N52 or N54 Vote!)

Most of us know that the water pump is a particularly weak point in the inline six motors and many fail during ownership.

I have set up a survey to attempt to get a decent prediction of when you can expect them to fail.

If you have a car (1-series, 3-series, 5-series, z4) with either the N52 or N54 engine, please vote!

I will keep updating the statistics as we get more responses.

Thanks!

You might want to check out my poll on the water pump failures...

e8x electric waterpump failure poll...

Seems to me IF you have an early built car(per 2009) and your over 60K you are on borrowed time. I plan to replace my pump around 75K miles.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I made the thread in the e90 forum, but figured this could get some of the 1-series and 5-series crowd in on the action since this section is seen by all forums.

The biggest problem with the survey is getting enough votes to form a reasonable conclusion. But I generally agree that many pumps, maybe 50%, seem to fail between 50-100k miles.
