I usually bring in microwave food...I am to lazy to pack lunch lol. If I do its leftovers. I usually avoid buying lunch except on fridays. It gets really expensive. This week I did buy lunch all week but I started a new job and the first week or two I buy lunch until I get a feel for everything at the company.

Nice. I'm in the same boat. I'm starting a new job as well and plan to bring my own lunch like I did at my previous job. Buying lunch or eating out every day is very expensive. I'm thinking about mixing packing food from home and microwave food like lean cuisine or healthy choice (maybe alternate them throughout the week). Like you I'm probably going to buy food for the first week or two.

When I worked in Manhattan I used to buy lunch every day. Really didn't feel like making a sandwich at 530am when I left for work and the food options were awesome. Now that I'm working outside of the city and have to drive to get lunch, I find myself bringing on most days.

I used to do that at my previous job.
Quote:
I used to buy food from lunch trucks (I suppose it's kind of like cafeteria food) and it was very unhealthy. After getting sick one time I stayed away from such food. With that said it depends on the cafeteria. Some companies have very good and healthy food that you can either buy or get for free. |

I usually cook a few things on the weekends, then bring in leftovers throughout the week. Much cheaper and easier. Plus most of the time I'm working through lunch anyway nowadays.

I go out for lunch every day in DC. I don't save money by making my own food; cooking for 1 isn't economical and a lot ends up going to waste.

I bring something for breakfast and lunch to work, very low cost relative to buying it (even @ McDonald's).

Are you sitting down at restaurants!? $20 seems outrageously high considereing I could eat very well in midtown Manhattan for $8...

Yeah, "going out" may mean picking up a sandwich or sitting down. I'm in the $6-16/day range for lunch.

I usually buy lunch, but TBH I really should bring it more often. I can get a decent lunch for 7-10 bucks so it’s not a huge expense, but it’s not healthy and it’s still money that could be saved. I just can’t be bothered to do it before 7am, and something about making a manwich the night before and putting it in the fridge grosses me out. I know, very prissy and senseless lol, food that’s been sitting is a minor phobia of mine.

My office is out in the sticks… so there's not much besides fast-food available. To avoid that, and save some money, I usually bring my lunch three days a week and go out the other two.

I'll usually pack a lunch most days, and go out for lunch at least once a week.
