Moving to Cincinnati-OHIO from Des Moines-IOWA what to expect...?
A little info about me:-
upper 20's Single will be working in Downtown. My office in Des Moines is just a few blocks from work and didn't have to drive a lot..even in winter the drive wasn't so bad(I have a 328i with out x drive,no snow tires) didn't go for snow tires because i could manage with the all weather tires i had..now i was thinking if its better for me to get a clunker with 4x4 for winter driving and my hauling for the future or just get snow tires on mine for the winters in Cincinnati..? I wouldn't mind taking the local transport on bad snow days if i have to... Would be really helpful if locals could give me some advice.. |

going from Des Moines to Cinci is like going from Rosie O'Donnel to Whoopie Goldberg.
i think the entire state of Ohio is depressed - their cities are declining and the economy is suffering. bad weather too...... but then again, you're from Des Moines, so your life won't really change drastically.... |

Litos said pretty much everything that I was *thinking* but was looking for a polite way to say.

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that.

Thank you guys for letting me know what to expect...i am not going to live in areas with high crime rate..so that will not be a major concern for me to worry..looking for some apartment with gated community and garage. I will remember to watch out for Ohio State Patrol and not speed a lot...
Football......Blah..where ever i may be i always have my team..not going to start that discussion over here..:-) Still debating on the buying a clunker or getting snow tires for my car.. |

Going from one bad place to another? I don't get why some folks make permanent residences in some of the places I would never consider stepping a foot in. Just amazes me. There is no job that could pay me enough to live in some of the states in the US. Its not being a snob at all. Its called living and traveling through some of these states and you realize how good you have or have had it in other states. Simple. I hear folks all the time here talk about moving to Hawaii or California and I tell them "you ever been there?" lol Big difference with living in Hawaii and/or vacationing there. I lived in Hawaii for 5 years and will never go back. It was an ok state with friendly people but honestly I would rather move to Barrow Alaska again and that is not saying much about either place. lol The top 5 states and in no particular order that I would live in again: Oregon Alaska California (was born and raised in Southern California although there are so many negatives you get use to it) Maine Arizona The bottom 5 states in no particular order: New York Massachusetts Virginia Ohio Iowa Arkansas is another place I would avoid.

I'm amazed at how many experts on the entire state of Ohio there are in this thread. I'll never have to travel there to experience it.

I spent 20 years in Ohio. And I much prefer it over Maine. Alaska is a beautiful state to vacation to. But, fuck if I would ever want to live there.
Anyway, Ohio is no California or Florida. But between all the major cities, it does have some things to offer. Your 328i will do just fine with a nice set of snow tires. Highest crime rates are in the major cities, FYI. If you're really scared, get a CCW. I did fine in all of my years without one.

I would rank Ohio and Arkansas as the two states in the entire nation with the least attractive people.
Utah, Arizona, Texas, Florida and California would rank in the top 5 (in no particular order). |

It's not a melting pot of gold diggers and munchkins if that's what you meant, most IA girls are of Scandinavian, Dutch descent etc. nothing wrong with that. |

a bunch of Scandinavian and Dutch families did not openly agree to go have all their babies in the paradise known as Iowa most bitches born in Iowa are born to parents who were raised in Iowa - c'mon dude, it's not some export of Scandinavian people even the most populated Scandinavian state in the nation is Wisconsin and it only has about 3% Scandinavian population.... this thread is getting hilarious..... "most women in Iowa are of Scandinavian decent" I would have accepted "there is a small population of women in IA who are of Scandinavian or Dutch decent", but you can't say most - that's just reaching....... |

Even if true, the state still sucks. Any place that still has draconian alcohol laws in 2013 isn't worth existing. What good are attractive females in a place like that? |

all the women appeared to be over 5'9 and everyone was white. not many ugly bitches, but I was surprised at how many hot bitches SLC produced.... I hate to say it, but the most "Hot Bitches per Capita" award goes to Arizona.... i'm a Texas die-hard to the core, but Arizona is STRONG..... |
