Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake Spotted [UPDATED]

RENDER:

Quote:
It seems that the Sindelfingen-based manufacturer is not content with producing a handful of models on its small car, front-wheel drive platform… It is readying another! Spy photographers have spotted the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake with barely any camouflage while it was being tested on the open road.
This will bring the small Benz family to five models including the A-, CLA, GLA and B-Class models. As with the CLA and A-Class siblings we can expect quite a bit of overlap in terms of engine and transmission options. And if there is a CLA Shooting Brake AMG, much like there is a CLS63 Shooting Brake, then it will boast the same 265 kW, inline four-cylinder turbopetrol with the all-wheel drive layout.
The images above were shot of an actual car, but there are plenty of renderings on the internet, such as the blue car which is probably close to what the final production model will look like.

Some people look for the practicality of an SUV but with car-like proportions. I don't understand why people don't consider wagons over SUVs.

im not saying I'm right, we are all different

but a suv is pretty much purpose built for the job whereas a wagon is a modified form of an original product. rarely is a car designed a wagon in the first place (hyundai i40 being a notable exception)

is it a question of ride quality? looks? both?

again, genuine question, not meant to offend

Wagons are better than sedans or SUV's. They're the same footprint as a sedan, but with more rearward weight balance and tons more practicality. They're lower than SUV's so they handle better, brake better and get better mileage.

But the CLA is a mess, fwd or Haldex and two pedal only. No thanks.

Hehe it's all good.. As red bread said, performance and economy is much better. Looks are subjective but a lot of the wagons look better than the sedan. Volvo S60, Audi A4/A6 avant (including the lovely RS4 and RS6), jaguar xf wagon come to mind.

I just don't get when some people buy these huge capable SUVs only to putter around town with. But it's what people like and as you said we're all different.

funny how i recall not long ago when the cla first images came out, everyone said it looked like arse. even i was skeptical about it. After seeing it in real life and on the roads, my opinions changed completely!

Same shit is gonna happen again.
