BMW recommends a 1200 mile break in period. No full throttle, launch control, over 4500 rpm during this time. That’s what I followed.

congrats it looks great! enjoy driving!
Took our first real drive today. Lots of twisties in northern Baltimore County. This thing drives like a sports sedan, reminds me of my M340. The power is incredible as I never used more than half throttle. Can't wait to break 100 miles so I can really open up the throttle. No regrets moving from an X5!
That’s the thing with the M50. Plus, it delivers great mileage when you’re just daily driving it. I think BMW knocked it outta the park with this engine. Congrats on your beautiful new X3!

I stand corrected and will follow this guidance to the letter.

I got tints done yesterday and we really benefited from it on a drive around SoCal today. I’m so glad I got the sunroof done too. Really helps keep the heat out.

Great color for the M50. I don’t get it why they offer the boring Vegas Red.
Melbourne Red looks great, but let's not go overboard saying Vegas Red is boring.

Those 21" 5 spoke black wheels are my favorite but I really don't want the 21s. Would rather have 19s !

That's not boring at all. I have Brooklyn Gray, which is almost the king of boring (Alpine White is the one true king of boring), but also the champ at keeping clean-looking with minimal washing effort. It's a low-maintenance dream for that. For looks, it's just ok.

Yup. I got Alpine White primarily because of the super low maintenance! Our Porsche is almost black; I think it's called Ruby or Cherry metallic. It's beautiful, but a whole lot of work to keep that car looking pristine!

100 mile highway trip. Not bad for a 400hp inline 6 💪🏼 wonder if the RaceChip is contributing to such good mileage.

Wow, that's impressive. I get like 23mpg. 27mpg on the highway maybe. What is the driving style?

I go the speed limit 60-65 mph. Mostly use cruise control. Keep the RaceChip at level 3. They note it as “eco” on the app. Maybe it actually does help.

Here’s our tanzanite blue in the sun. I had to “train my eye to see it” in the shade because it looks black from a distance.
